Do Brisbane need a priority pick?

Didn't compare them.

You can't just change the draft order because it's the vibe. 34 individual players were suspended - Essendon already received their league punishment. AFL has already ruled out stripping Essendon of the #1 pick so Kochie's winge was for nothing really. If Brisbane want to apply for a priority pick, that's another issue.

might be for nothing but tells it exactly how everyone is feeling / thinking about it. good on him

After the tanking saga, the AFL are loathe to hand out a PP. The shambles that was Melbourne couldn't get one when they were an embarrassment for two years running but Brisbane is a little different.

Melbourne's problems were self inflicted having loaded up with high draft picks they jettisoned all the still good senior players, sacked a coach who had done good things, made two kids captains, then realised a heap of those high draft picks were no good.

Brisbane of course had the disastrous Fevola saga but had recruited really well in the aftermath of that but had most of their high draft picks play the go home card and had to trade them for far less than their actual worth. This is what's really ripped the guts out of the Brisbane list.

Now you can hypothesise all you like about why those kids went home but in every case they locked themselves to a significant southern/western club in trade negotiations giving the suspicion that those receiving clubs helped unsettle them.

If the AFL was to give Brisbane pick 11 as a PP I wouldn't be too concerned. It allows all the non finalists to get their first round choice before the PP and that one extra likely very good player would assist Brisbane in their rebuild.

The AFL also has to get behind Brisbane in their pursuit of state of the art training facilities.

I don't think it's fair that the Dons get stripped of the #1 pick, since it appears to be a retrospective application of a penalty. They finish last, they're entitled to pick 1.

Equally, that has no relevance on whether the Lions get a PP - and the vast majority of Lions' posters indicate that getting one isn't the issue nor will it fix any problems.

A team getting told your barred from playing finals after qualifying is not punishment enough?

Absolutely not enough, and I reckon if it was another club in the same boat you'd agree.

Doping and match fixing are without peer the two most unforgivable sins in professional sport IMO - a couple of lengths ahead of cap breaches then daylight. The level of punishment should be somewhere close to "shock and awe".

It's looking increasingly like our ownership of the worst facilities in the league is partially responsible for this aspect.

Zactly.

Sadly we don't even own them!

Agree, feel that the "shock and awe" punishment we received was deserved... But the Essondon punishment didn't feel as harsh.

Anyway, a PP won't fix the problem but it might help. We got a few, so don't mind if Brisbane get one.

So after Essendon's doping scandal they are getting Heppell, Myers & Hurley (all three of which are top 10 picks) back next season as well as a Brownlow medalist as well as already having Darcy Parish, Aaron Francis & Joe Danniher, picks 5, 6 & 10 respectively - all on top of getting pick 1?

Yet Brisbane, a club in a traditionally non-AFL state, shouldn't get a priority pick because they're "poorly run"

equalisation.....

by everyone you are referring to a minority from what i have seen.

but my all means give us back our 2013 sanctions and you can have your shitty #1 pick, otherwise we have paid our dues. Enough is enough.

so let me get this straight guy. The below is the harshest penalty ever dealt to an AFL club.

2 million dollar fine.
Kicked out of finals.
Coached banned for 12 months.
Entire Administration re build.
Loss of draft picks for 2 years.
Players banned for entire season.
Supporters & players having to deal with 4 years of scrutiny, and still without sufficient proof.

This is not enough of a punishment for you?

What the **** else do you want? Each players first born child?

We are more than happy to do our time for what we got done for but seriously...get the **** over it.

Absolutely. And you shouldnt get pick 1 as a benefit because of those actions.

Glad you are happy with him, maybe you have to be?

But seriously, the knob that jumped a safety barrier to jump into an ambulance during the Beaconsfield mine disaster just to get his idiotic face on tele telling us all what 'a good look' is. LOL. Sanctimonious tool for mine!

A good number of those are natural and unavoidable consequences, not prescribed punishments from the league. The ramifications of players being suspended shouldn't be ultimately compensated by a number 1 pick. It's like your parents taking your PS4 away for a year as a punishment, then giving it back to you along with an Xbox One at the end of the year.
