id like the best three pure midfielders please.

Pure being spends the majority of their time there? Predominantly inside winning the hard ball. Predominantly outside providing run and carry and kicking goal. A little bit of both?

combination of dangerfield pendlebury ward & fyfe please.;)

actually think we need elite ball users and some pace plus some size to help cripps. cant beat class

That was my thought. Need someone strong enough to go inside and give Cripps some relief, use the ball well and have some acceleration. Closest is Brodie whose ball use is good but not great according to Phantom Drafter Knightmare. I guess if someone had all we wanted in the one package they would go at #1.

Question is what can improve? Pace you either have or don't. Contested ability you can improve on, but clearance beasts are usually apparent early. Just a matter of whether he can raise his game to great ball user rather than just good. He also has the ability to run on the outside with ball in hand and overlap.

If the write ups are accurate, he is the one I'd prefer as he ticks more boxes for year 2 of our rebuild.

cheers. i hope sos does a magic deal and we have 4-5 picks inside top 25. then we can get a few of them.

We need to somehow find a way to get two top 10 picks. Supporters have to be ready to lose something significant to get it, but it is possible.

Take the 2 best mids we can possibly get and I'll be very happy.

Enter 2017 draft with whatever pick from our position (#7-#9 imo) and offer up 2018 first rounder to get an additional top 10 pick next year.

Leaves us with 4 top ten picks in the next 2 drafts. Spend them on best possible mids available and we'll be set. By 2019, Curnow, McKay, Weitering, Silvagni and Plowman will be experienced enough and our gun midfield draft picks should start making an impact.

KPD Plowman Docherty

Byrne Weitering E.Curnow

'17 mid#1 '16 mid#1 '16 mid#2

Murphy C.Curnow HFF

Silvagni McKay SFW

Kreuzer Cripps Gibbs

I/C: Philips, '17 mid#2, '16 mid#3, '17 pick#3

So, '16 mid #1 = top 10 pick
'16 mid #2 = top 10 pick
'16 mid #3 = top 25 pick
'17 mid #1 = top 10 pick
'17 mid #2 = top 10 pick
'17 pick #3 = top 30 pick - A pick to fill a gap in the squad, possibly a speedy small forward, in that case, he'll slot in to the SFW position

i know people talk about tomlinson etc but id be very happy if sos got 4-5 picks inside top 25 instead. seems as though there is some real midfield talent there and if we got 4 young gun midfielders to add to our list it would make a massive difference ala dogs. we have a very talented defence and some young forwards who need time.

What would you be willing to give up in order to get them?

that of course is the question. need some sos magic. we will have something around 5 & 23 to start. may include trading future picks or our first round for 2-3 picks inside top 20 or trading a player like everitt and a pick. also like to see us go to the draft with a good 6-8 picks all up plus rookies. good players can come from anywhere.

Hmmm. Not too keen on trading our 2017 first round pick. I'm all for trading the 2018 one, but 2017 I think it would be wiser to keep that one.

Everitt and a pick will not yield a first rounder unless that pick is that #23 you speak of. We'd probably get an upgrade to something like pick #15 for Everitt and #23.

Boekhurst is one guy we could shop around for another second rounder. Maybe turn that second rounder into another GWS pack. Would be great if we got Tomlinson and Marchbank in that package. They do need to clear up some room...

as i said it will need some sos magic. i have no idea how he will pull it off but if he can something like he did last trade/draft period i will be very happy. 3 picks inside top 12 and pick 23 plus some other good players from gws. like to see us add some picks in 30s & 40s.

We don't have a lot of trade value to get us further into the first round.

I feel that Steele and Marchbank would command a top 20 pick if they were in the draft this year. Tomlinson somewhere in the 20s and Stewart is just a gesture by us to take him off their books and help us get a discount like last year.

I feel like we are getting 2-3 first rounders ability wise by doing this deal. Question for me is how to do the deal AND keep a first rounder we can nab a player like Brodie with.

KPD, Tall utility who can play midfield with a huge tank, Inside mid, Depth KPF. Pacy inside mid in the draft. Just missing some forward x factor and outside run and our rebuild is complete.

Rumour was our first and second this year for the GWS 4.

An Everitt trade makes sense in that he is what he is. A laconic third tall runner who likes a goal. Gold Coast had interest last year. If we can somehow turn him into an early second rounder, I wonder if we can use 2 seconds this year and a 2017 second to get that GWS 4 deal done. That way we keep both first rounders.

My feeling is that Silvagni is a logical replacement for Everitt anyway as far as forward play goes and Tomlinson will cover that tall midfield runner role.

we do its just people dont seem to think we will do it. no one thought we would trade menzel last year. i just get the impression that sos & bolton may do something people dont expect. to trade an everitt gibbs tuohy bokehurst casboult etc would be really left field but i could see them doing if it would advance our list. i certainly dont expect us to be quiet come trade period. there may be deals everywhere

last year we were happy to move menzel henderson & yarran who had questionable commitment. everitt i put in the same boat and is easily covered

Yes on Everitt as he is up and down commitment wise, but some of the other names .... let's just say it would send a really bad message to trade away the hard workers.

What has Everitt done that makes people question his commitment, last year when the rest of them gave up Everitt was one of very few still having a crack.

im not sure. sometimes i think people get too caught up in messages. we arent getting rid of everyone and the club is bigger than any individuals. even if we got rid of a gibbs for example we still have so many good senior players left. we need to make tough decisions to move forward. both st kilda and bulldogs traded club "greats" to move forward. i dont think its hurt them. i just think sos & bolts are realistic and will make the tough decisions. thats the system. the deals will have to be good though.

The constructive criticism is about lapses in intensity, both in attacking the contest when the ball is in dispute or hard defensive running. The same drop in intensity for mine, contributes to his dropping of easy marks. Lack of intensity = lack of focus = diminishing of skills.

He's quick for a taller man and works hard offensively. Does not work as hard without the ball. Great kick of the football.

Don't get me wrong, he is best 22 still. He plays some great games. Just not sure he tries to get the best out of himself every game.

Just in case you've missed previous posts from me, Gibbs is going nowhere, so any trade wish list you have will have to exclude him.

Trade Tuohy? I can only assume this is a bit of Irish humour. He will be at Carlton for his entire career.

Boekhorst? Unless he decides he wants a trade back to WA, we will not be trading him. He offers something which we don't have a lot of on our list; leg speed. That he also has some really good tricks to go with it & is a very good user of the ball, makes him an integral part of our rebuild.

The players we traded last year (Bell excepted) were all conditional players. Henderson & Yarran wanted out & Menzel was obviously happy to go back home. None of Gibbs, Tuohy, Boekhorst or Casboult fit this description. Everitt, on the other hand, I could see entertaining a move.

Trading a future first round for another first round this year is mad imo... McKay, Curnow, Jack and Cuningham are all complete unknowns at this stage and we could easily find that our "needs" change as their futures become more clear.

settle down. not wish lists just examples of players that are worth some trade value. i have no idea what will happen but to say someone wont be traded is silly. i have no doubt that if a deal is put forward that will benefit the club they will do it. if we do nothing and keep all these players it will be a very slow rebuild. sos said 66 games for a full list rebuild. i have no doubt he will trade some players. who? i have no idea. he will make the tough decisions we have avoided for more than a decade.
