in caddy, selwood, henderson, kersten
out menzel, kolo, cowan, mccarthy

get the feeling this will be vintage geelong

Just remember that giving a player a week off now could potentially mean they have 3 weeks off over a 7 week stretch. That is a fair bit of actual match play to miss. Not sure that it is ideal in a potential lead up to a grand final.

Yeah, it's a bit shit, to be honest. Finalists get the bye, top 4 team wins their qualifying final and get another bye. It's far too stop/start in my opinion, and might hamper the momentum of some teams.

On the plus side, it may negatively affect Hawthorn:D

This is the kind of game we usually lose.
We won't lose this game......what we need to be concentrating on is going for the jugular and putting them to the sword.
Percentage is going to seperate top 4 and 5-8 this season

Walks into Geel / Ess thread

Is that was this thread is.....I mean was ?

I'd like to see Scott Selwood come in and tag David Zaharakis. He's a relatively easy kill, and I think Scott should get 3 or 4 big jobs leading into finals to see if he can handle it.

Zaharakis, Martin/Cotchin, Zorko and Viney would all be good tests for him.

Edit* Sorry, looks like I've posted this in the Cam Guthrie/Supercoach thread.

I think tagging is a thing of the past. How many hard tags have there actually been in any games this season? I guess Scooter could still have a role as a more defensive midfielder, but I doubt you'll see him running around with a hand on someones jumper all game.

I think they still exist, just used more sparingly.

Zaharakis and Rich are 2 players who often get a strong tag and go to water, and both are incredibly damaging if left to run free.

I just like our side a little bit more with defensive mid/tagger. We played some of our best football early this year when Blicavs was limiting the influence of the oppositions number 1 stoppage players.

I've got to stop reading these threads prior to team selection. They are just making me seriously depressed. I could be doing so many more better things.
There's a better thing than watching an internet fight ?

At the same time, we accounted for strong opposition in Adelaide very well with no tagger in sight. And against the Dogs. So it's not like it's absolutely necessary.

True, We've had some good results without a tagging, I just prefer a solid lock-down option for Sydney, GWS and Hawthorn. If it's going to be Scott Selwood, he needs to prove he can do it in the final 4 rounds of the home and away season.
