Writing was on the wall in the trial match at Lizbeth when Boaky noted his lack of explosiveness compared to the Melbourne players. He put it down to Melbourne playing with an extra 30 rotations. Aker was spot on at the start of the year when he said we've been overtraining.

It was Hammer that made the comment re: explosiveness.

I'd leave Boak well alone. He's lost a yard of pace and can't kick over a jam tin this year. Must have OP or some form of leg/groin injury that has slowed him down. Still far and away the best choice for captain IMO.

Not happy with his captaincy currently, but he's clearly been carrying something and he has points in the bank. He at least deserves a chance to turn things around.

True but what happens this weekend if we get rolled by the biggest losing margin in showdown history with an "injured" captain having 0 influence on the game?

I'll be interested to see what comes out at the end of the year about whether he's injured or not. Seems like people trying to make excuses for him at the moment. Usually when a coach is questioned about a player being injured they'll answer with "everyone has niggles etc etc" but Hinkley has been absolutely emphatic about him not being injured. That said I'd give him one more year.

Agree with the rest, give him another year.
But drop this whole 15 man "Leadership group" idea, too many chiefs.

Boak leads the midfield, Trengove the defence, whoever steps up for the forwards.

I heard Hammers VC has caused some riffs.

Is it too early to elevate Ollie to VC next season under Boak for one more year, before elevating him to Captain in 2018?

I would go with Boak (C) - Ollie (VC) - and the only other two I'd like to see in the leadership group, would be Ebo and Trengove

Boak could get jabbed up with the East Keilor Nitro Sauce, have 50 & 5 and we'd still be lucky to put 8 goals on the board with the forward line we'll field this week.

Then you refer back to my original post for your answer. Carrying something + points in the bank = a chance to turn it around.
