Picking up Parfitt would impact our stoppages as much as any player in the draft I suspect. He's just in an awkward place as far as picks go. Don't think we would take him with our 1st pick but by the time it gets to 15 someone has a steal.
If we could get him in the 2nd or 3rd round, then yeah maybe, but certainly wouldn't reach for him in the first round.

Talking of Ports zones - isn't Fiji part of our academy? Ratugolea is of Fijian heritage 194cm, 95kg - very raw but worth a rookie
I wouldn't be surprised to see Ratugolea go in the main draft.
Exciting to watch, has a good leap, and marks well. His disposal needs a lot of work though. Would absolutely take him with a very late national draft pick, or with a rookie pick.

Thoughts on the rucks later in draft. If we assume we don't take one with our first pick where do people rate Ladhams and Street from SA and notice Macca19 had Lynch and Darcy. i don't know much about any of the big blokes.

Hahahaha oh mercy!

His highlights start with a kick for goal that hits the behind post, then a snap from 10m out that misses and ends with a mark at Full Back.

Absolutely (Ports) Power Forward material!

Haha he would most definitely be a project player :D

All of Ladhams, Darcy & Sweet will go anywhere from pick 35 through to the rookie draft. I think Darcy with his tap work is the most likely to get drafted in the main draft. Great tap work but is a serious lump. Tone him down and he'll be a monster. The two SA guys may have to wait till the rookie draft. I probably like Ladhams a bit more, is a bit more mobile than Sweet. Goddard probably rookie draft or undrafted. Brock Mcgregor I really like, has plenty of potential. Codey Ellison i've been going on about and should be there in the rookie draft (if he's even nominated for the draft). Lynch would be my favourite, really quick, really mobile, great size, can play as a KPD or KPF as well as in the ruck. I'd assume GWS will match a bid that comes for him though.

Thanks Macca19.

Yeah someone would take a punt on him. I'm still a little concerned that he's just physically dominating a bunch of kids and he might struggle when all of his opponents will be his physical match. Certainly looks like he could provide some spark if he does manage to find his niche at the top level.

How does Marshall compare with Battle ?

Marshall is ahead in the Phantom form guide (Battle not in the most recent top 20)

Battle however featured in the All Australian side and Marshall did not.

Two different types of kpf. Marshall is quite a bit taller, great contested mark, good leap but under developed physically. Plays like a 198cm 17yo Tredders. Marshall had a great champs.

Battle is a 192cm hard running, physically developed type similar to a Darling. Super fit but doesnt seem to use it to his advantage. Less scope for improvement, but someone will likely get a bargain if he falls to a pick in the 20s or 30s

Hey Macca do you think with the Schulz news, on top of Howard gone next year that we may well use our first pick in the draft on the best Key Pos Fwd (such as Marshall?) over a mid?

If Marshall is there, I reckon we will take him. If he's not there, then we'd go for best available player. I dont think Battle would be best available with our first pick.

yep - what if marshall and venebles are both there?

Well this is where the hours and hours of due dilligence comes into it. Intently watching footage for hours, interviewing coaches, school teachers, principals, parents, the player himself, finding out their traits - positive & negative - debating with the scouts and football manager over their potential, debating who may be in front of the other, then in the end.....a quick rock paper scissors under the draft table on draft night!

I hear ya mate. A gun Key forward is always hard to draft but if you get it right you can build a team around him. Do you reckon Marshall could be a superstar key fwd? I doubt it year 1 or 2 Coz he is so skinny but after that perhaps ??

He's as good a chance as anyone to become a high class forward. Has all the tools. Great contested mark, good pace, agility, good bit of agro, has x factor, can do the incredible. Would take a few years to get the body but he's a good chance of becoming that player.

I can just see Marshall not being there at our first and us jumping to grab Battle due to no KPF stocks

Yeah theres a big chance Marshall will be gone. Richmond would be super keen, Freo would be keen, possible Gold Coast as well.

I dont think we'd pick Battle that early. We'd go best available. We might do that anyway, even if Marshall is available.

There's some decent looking KPF that could be picked up later in the draft. Lewis Young has developed well as the year has gone on, a 198cm KPF from Sturt. Mitch Lewis has had some press lately. Patrick Kerr may fall to a 3rd rounder. Who knows, we may see Mason Shaw back at the club!

Not sure in what order and it's always different come draft day but my guess is in some order mcluggage , Brodie , sps, McGrath , Marshall and Ainsworth as the most obvious top 6. Outside of one of those guys slipping through to our pick 9 i don't think there is much between picking at 9 or 19.
