Someone needs to explain to me who these kids in the draft are (Battle I keep hearing about but don't know shit about him). I know Marshall is meant to be an elite KPF prospect so if we get him then yes please but everyone else I'm useless on.
If you're going KPF, there's really only three main ones that seem to be a decent chance of making it, at this stage. I'm not counting English, because I think he's a ruckman who is more of a defender than a forward if you're talking about his versatility stakes.
Todd Marshall is the 198cm, athletic beast who has a lot of X factor, great hands and a decent kick. So far, he's been very, very stay at home forward though and doesn't impact games for four quarters at all. Didn't make the U/18 All Australian team. That's why I say he's not a sure thing, but he's the best AFL prospect with his skillset, size and athleticism.
Josh Battle is the 192cm, third tall type with a huge tank and a good, although sometimes wobbly kick. He can run all day, so often has tired his opponents out, is good on the lead and has some pace about him. He doesn't have much of a presence though, although that could change at AFL level.
Patrick Kerr is the 194cm, more classic forward. Lacks a bit of agility, but has alright pace on the lead and excellent hands on the lead. His kicking action looks great and more often than not produces, but then you'll get 4 behinds in a row from him. Seems to pop up in big moments and reads the play well.
Although, this should probably go in the Draft Targets thread and not the Trade Targets thread, so I'll move this over to there.
I'd love to get Kerr with a third rounder if he slid. That'd be my most preferred option. But I guess we'd be silly not to grab Todd Marshall if we had the chance.
Here's a highlights package for each:
Todd Marshall
Josh Battle
Patrick Kerr
