If it doesn't come about, Essendon will be getting themselves a high quality player via the PSD.

There's no chance in hell the AFL would let this happen, especially after the AFL imposed sanctions put Essendon in this position. They bring in a mediator for trade talks that are stalled and the deal will get done.

Hawks trade bait - Hill, Breust, Langford, Pick 15?, future first rd (~15). That's enough to get two uncontracted players across IMO.

Starting to wonder if SOS is thinking it will be easier to build a functional forward line by converting defenders.

Typically, KPD's would come cheaper than KPF's, so while loading up on Weitering, Plowman, Marchbank, Glass-McCasker and Corr looks a little overkill, if two of them can learn to play deep in the forward line then we may be able to build our key position stocks concurrently while reserving our top picks in coming years for quality mids.

The way the competition is at the moment, with Betts, Picken, Puopolo, Rioli and co, we may be considering going small

The Phwoars!
GWS' Aidan actually born in Ireland, so should feel at home with Zach and the CIArans.
He is from Northern Ireland... he might get along with Byrne... but Zach and Sheehan would be straining things a bit too much I think.

Would pay to see a team of 18 SOS's play
2 more generations to see that happen... assuming that all 3 boys get married and have 3 boys each and they all play football for the club... in 2 generations, we would have a best 22 of Silvagni's with another 5 spares waiting to break into the side. Another generation after that, we would have a best 22 at the Bullants as all Silvagni's as well.

GWS's draft:

-Use Collingwood's pick 7 on best available before any academy bids come.
-Match bids for Setterfield & Perryman with their & Geelong's 1st round picks.
-Match bids for Macreadie & Mutch with their & Adelaide's 2nd round picks.
-Lose a heap of points from their 3rd round but who cares they won't use it.

Trading for Marchbank - our 2nd rounder, or even a pick in the teens, would just be absorbed into matching academy bids. Needs to be a different trade I think

A future second. Likey to be a pick around pick 20.

Next years academy crop is even better than this years. One of them is already being talked up as pick 1.

As you rightly point out they dont need any more picks this year. They'll look to trade out players this year for future points. This eases their salary cap and gives them points next year to pay for another crop of 1st rounders.

They'll put a premium on future points.

Our future second will get it done.

I'm sorry. 12 months ago we had our fingers crossed SOS would rebuild us and make us better. Now 10 minutes into the one hour special, we are questioning him. Again, sorry, but if SOS likes Corr, I like Corr. If SOS wants Pickett, Barrett, McKenna, Steele, Stewart and ........ , well so do I. We trust in Bolts, we need to trust in SOS. I know shit what happens inside the walls of Princes Park, so I sit back trust and hope.

Since we've hired sos as list manager we've picked a KPD with pick 1, traded for a KPD (plowman), trading for another KPD this trade period, and are rumoured to be going after another.

As far as recruiting obsessions go I definitely prefer this one to our half back flanker obsession under Hughes.

The plan is clearly: lock in a back six for a decade. Build from defence.

Considering our list managers playing experience as the Full back of the century, playing in the best back six we've ever had (SOS, McKay, Dean, Christou, Sexton), and he started playing alongside Bruce Doull then that kind of makes sense.

We get the backs sorted for a decade and they learn their trade under tough conditions. From there we build a spine, and from there we assemble a midfield around them.

Brander? May not get there.

Not sure if any ruling has been handed down yet on whether he falls into GWS Academy status.

Bolton and SOS have been very open about getting the spine fixed first for the rebuild. I'm personally looking forward to having the most dominant talls in the the competition. It's been a bloody long time since we've been able to say that!

I firmly believe this is the case. Omeara may have nominated them but I have no idea how Hawthorn will satisfy them GC.

Only my opinion but after last nights loss I reckon the deal will be done - somehow. Sicily, Breust etc. one of those types will be shaken loose.

Remember - Clarkson is a ruthless prick. He will want to get back on top !

Over on GCS page, saw a tweet Wayne Carey on triple m sport said he had been told during the week that Breust has been informed he is up for trade. Wouldn't mind if SOS could get his hands on Breust for us instead. We could do with a 40 - 50 a season goal kicker.

Hill is going to go back to WA. He won't go to GC

Sounds like too many goals a year for our clubs liking

SOS probably figures the forward caper can't be too hard for defenders to learn given he was regularly moved forward & kicked bags of goals, including 10 in one game.
