Thompson crashed out. Overranked.

Yeah, he has lost a couple of bad ones the last few weeks. It was a good chance for him to lock in a top 100 spot at years end given the weakness of the draws.

Marinko's game is interupted by rain but it looks like he is in trouble as well, down a break in the 3rd set.

Week starting the 19th of Spetember.

No Aussies playing singles in either of the main tour events.

On the Challenger tour
Ebden, Whittington, Thompson (number 4 seed) and Millman (number 1 seed) are playing in Kaohsiung.

Groth and Patrick-Smith are playing in Columbus.

A number of Australians like Jasika, Mitchell and Saville are plaing in the futures event in Alice Springs

Forgot to mention Chris O'Connell who I don't know a lot about is playing on clay in Sibiu. He came through qualifying and beat world number 84, Gerald Melzer in round 1.

Not a bad result in the bigger picture. It means on Saturday he can play qualifying in one of the main ATP events as it looks at this stage like he won't get direct entry. This week was a warm up to some extent.

Uchiyama served a lot of aces and some uncharacteristic errors from John. Not sure being reserve for the Davis Cup is good preparation for anything.

Yeah it seemed a bit over the top to have all those guys there training on grass. Millman, Duckworth, Jasika and Reid should of been making the most of the weaker challenger events.

Wasn't his best day, but I'm certain he will be back firing next week. Go Johnny!

Compared to how he plays in the Slams and other big tournaments he seems to lack intensity when he goes back to Challenger level which is a shame as he could earn some valuable points by winning a couple of those.

Smith is through to the Semi's in Colmbus, he plays Becker in the Semi Final.

O'Connell keeps his run going and is through to the semi's in Sibiu on clay. Currently ranked 338, this will put him well inside the top 300 I would think.

Qualifying starts today in the two ATP main tour events in China.

Matosevic is in Chengdu while in Shenzhen, Duckworth, Ebden and Wittington are in the qualifying draw.

Kyrgios, Tomic, Thompson and Millman are all in the Main draws.

Whitt and Duckie through.

Ebden so far not getting a sniff.
