Carlton
Dear Carlton fans and supporters,

The time has come for us to stand up and rebuild our once mighty club. Real Carlton supporters are only interested in 2 thing: winning and playing at our home ground. Without Princes Park we run the risk of loosing our identity, just ask West Ham how they feel at the moment. It's not merely a place where we play football it's the heart and soul of the Carlton Football Club, just ask our past champions what they think of the place. We need a new board to deliver a minimum of 3-4 games in the initial stages to give the Carlton faitful something to look forward to.

I propose a march to Princes Park in early 2017 to draw attention as to what needs to be done to make our club great once again, come join me if you are a true believer. Attached is a short video of what I am talking about.

Regards Southby

money

it all comes down to money. Lots of it needed to make PP up to the required standard. The faithful can march all they want but if they leave their wallets at home it will do no good.

Didn't Carlton pretty much seal the future of PP after they knocked down one of the older stands and build the new admin, coaching & gym facilities

Would like to see the blues split their home games b/w MCG & PP

The new training facilities have replaced the Heatley stand & old social club but the rest is still intact. Could probably hold abt 20k. Perfect for games against GWS , GC , Port , Freo , Lions , WC & NM !!

They throw you a bone by playing a pre-season game there every year (when the very nice weather helps the nostalgia) but playing a real game there is clearly pipe dream stuff. Unless, like Rob says, you've got a large fortune to convert it from being an antiquated shitheap. Do you southby?

Except when you're having a good year (it might happen) and so is one of those teams. Selling out at 20,000 is a clear disaster.

Or when you're having a decidedly bad year (more likely) and people simply don't go because a derelict stadium in winter isn't fun and the novelty of "being home" wore off months ago.

That's funny, you might also wonder why the bottom of the ladder EPL clubs like Watford pack their old run down ground out each home match. It's quite simple, the fans love their home ground regardless of the result. Should Carlton even improve a little and receive even 4 home games I guarantee they will be lock outs. As for the money question there could be 3 sources, the AFL redevelopment fund, which is enormous. The Carlton Ccity Councell. Finally wealthy Carlton supporters like the Pratt's. Eithad is not the solution for Carlton, amongst other clubs. It's a white elephant. Regards Southby

Watford don't compete for support against 8 other clubs, in the same city, all playing in much better stadiums.

Nobody is going to pay for your club to have a new stadium in Melbourne. There is already two.

And Carlton City Council doesn't exist.

I would agree, there would be lockouts regardless of how it looks.
The local trade would be fantastic, although Percy has now shut up shop

Peter ''Percy'' Jones is pulling up stumps at his famous Percy's Bar and Bistro in Lygon Street, a loyal alcoholic outpost for the old dark navy blues for the past 29 years.

Departure is not his choice. ''The landlord wants to develop the site,'' he says. ''Apartments I think.

Once you lose these iconic pubs, they dont come back, there closing is a bit of footy closing

I was at the VAFA A Grade Grand Final two weeks ago and half the stadium would need some serious, serious work.
Plus the new facilities have been built right on the boundary at one end.

Watford do compete with more than 8 other clubs in London that move b/w the premier & championship leagues !!

Your second point is probably correct but there is still a hard core of blues supporters that would love to play some home games @ PP !!

those new facilities are to close to the boundary. theyve built themselves into a corner there. Stupid...

Kardinia Park seems to barely pass as AFL standard according to some people on this forum and that has had well over $100m spent on it in recent years. Princes Park would need to be torn down and started again, maybe with the exception of the Legends Stand which would still need a refurbishment.
People whinge about the facilities at Etihad.
People in general just whinge about anything

Although Watford isn't technically in London, for all intents and purposes they do. Its easily accessible from the underground, and you can bet many of their fans are from the London Metro area.

The city of Melbourne are spending all their cash redeveloping the queen vic market, 300-400 million dollar project that they've been working towards for a while.

The Gardiner stand would definitely be retained , probably also the jack Elliott super box stand next to it.

The Legend Stand is reasonable new and pretty much unused for the money spent .

The old hawthorn wing would need some work !!
