I'd hate for us to ever give a first pick for a player over the age of free agency. It's just dumb.

Hence happy if the crows want to cough up theirs for Gibbs.

-Trade Gibbs for 13, draft a gun.
-Finish bottom 5 next year, draft a gun mid.
-Use the money from Gibbs, Daisy and Jones to get Fyfe for nothing more than Cap space.

That's just smart footy

We should all pinky swear that at completion of the trade period, WHATEVER HAPPENS, none of us say "Bryce Gibbs" or "trade" or "Adelaide" in the same sentence for at least twelve months....

I love your work here coach, but how many reliable posters need to confirm there's a potential trade in the works for Gibbs before you are happy for people to discuss it on the rumour discussion thread?

Two things

1. Since when was Fyfe actually leaving, and;
2. Why Carlton, there are 17 clubs that would be doing everything in their power to obtain him.

6-7 years to develop ?, he would be delisted by then if he hasn't gone past 50 games

I agree.

It took Lyons 6 years to reach 50 games (55 games at the completion of his 6th season)

Apply the same rationale as you did with Graham to Lyons, then he is delist material, not trade-in material.

1. Yeah, because drafting a gun at 13 is 100% guaranteed to happen.
2. Pretty sure we'd finish bottom 5 next year with Gibbs or without. And I'd prefer with rather than a pick 13 with no definite chance of being anywhere near Gibb's level.
3. Fyfe is a pipe dream at this stage. Even if the rumours are true now, who says that he would still be interested in 12 months and whether or not Fyfe would prefer to come to a team with Gibbs in it.

Yeah was thinking the same thing. If we give up 5, hopefully we can snare the saints pick 10 in the process. Would make giving up pick 5 a lot easier.

Don't know where that puts the gws5 scenario though.
The early reporting is his manager thinks a pick around where Steele was drafted a couple of years ago (around 24) should do it.
No suggestion of Saints first pick (10), or of GWS insisting on it.
Cannot see logic of GWS demanding our pick 5, even if Marchbank is bundled up with others. If GWS insists, I predict it will be a protracted trade, down to blinking in the last few minutes ('The fax machine is not working!' excuse can no longer be used ...).
FWIW, we should swap 2017 2nd round draft picks with GWS, and only this, to get the deal done.

Josh Kelly, huh?

Your arse is in left field?

:p
thinking left field still, maybe that player is Rhyce Palmer so that the Giants get his wages off their books......as in what happened with Lamb last year.....more about them and their salary cap squeeze ???

Palmer is 27 and has slowing leg speed. Surely SOS doesn't want him no matter what.

Palmer is definately on his way out of GWS. However he has been linked with Hawthorn as far as I'm aware.

I'm never going to be happy about discussing it, but you're absolutely right, this is a place where such things are discussed, so like it or not, there's not much I can do about it.... I just hope, if he isn't traded, we can move on from it, for at least twelve months...

Your question however is an interesting one... We all know who the genuinely "reliable posters" are. There's a handful that seem to get it right every time... I've seen two of them categorically state that Gibbs isn't going anywhere.

So I might ask you a similar question,...

How many reliable posters need to confirm that no such trade is happening, before we're prepared to move on from it?

Well we will be able to pay him the 1mil a year with ease, daisy 700, Gibbs 650, jones 350 that's 1.7mil not to mention walker and jamo who would have been on 350-400 each.

We will be coming to our upswing. Young talent in all positions with a promising 5 years ahead.

We are as good a chance as any.

Gibbs will only decline in value from here on out, we should move him and 2E and get as much young talent as we can for our young energetic coach to mould the right way.

I have nothing against Gibbs or 2E but their DOB btw.

move on? move on to what, ffs? the next improbable suggestion? most ideas are as dumb, outlandish and not-going-to-happen as the next - why should the gibbs scenarios be any more difficult to tolerate - go back and look at some of the suggestions over the years - almost all of them garbage

TBF, that kind of doesn't make any sense. Gibbs for pick 13 and Lyons ( a best 22 player for the Crows) isn't good enough but Gibbs for a first rounder and a second rounder is?

Makes all the sense in the world to me .
Lyons is a rising 25yo plodder .
Draft picks fit our rebuild better and they can be used in any combination of ways by Silvagni to work towards the big picture masterplan .
