I'm emotionless about this trading thing now.

Just do what you have to do SOS.

Nuke the team, start again, no worries, no half-measures.
SOS had a pretty good start during last seasons trade/draft period. I believe he's doing a good job so far. It could turn out to be a great job by end of this year's draft

You need to realistic about how bad our list was last year. We had no depth and no youth. What SOS had done in two drafts is completely build a defense. Something we haven't had since SOS was at full back.
We all want quick success but we are building a foundation for sustained success.
Docherty wasn't a SOS move, and it's going to be very hard to replace what Simpson does in that backline. I agree the backline has been strengthened in a major way, but we are truly deplorable in the most important area of the ground, the midfield. Losing Gibbs for little would be a huge loss, and the way I see it, I don't see how we don't end up in a bad trade with Adelaide, unless they happen to pay overs. Are we really going to want Gibbs here at Carlton after he has demanded a trade?

Forward line remains a joke too. Of course, you can't completely rebuild a club in a few years, but that's beside the point. Far too many on here are quick to brand SOS the "saviour" for his moves so far, which is completely ridiculous, particularly when his role up in GWS was made significantly easier by the concessions, so it's much harder to rate him as a list manager.

Losing Gibbs is a backwards step for the club. I'm not willing to accept that it can be anything more that that, unless we end up with some ridiculous haul for him, which won't be the case. Unless we strike gold and find another Cripps (you typically don't find players like that each year at 13), we're losing a gun midfielder with decent leadership abilities, something we desperately lack and need at the club right now. Murphy has proven the past few years that he isn't a great leader (he tries, but he just isn't suited) and he keeps missing games.

Leaving a young Cripps to shoulder the load in the midfield is very Melbourne 2009/10 like, and I don't like it at all. Any delay in the rebuild also only creates great potential for young guns to leave, disillusioned by the way things are travelling.

He doesn't have a choice. We are at the mercy of what Geelong give us, Ala Sauce Jacobs & Adelaide.
I'm saying that SOS wouldn't have low-balled Tuohy's contract if things weren't already in place. We would have signed up Tuohy for sure if we didn't think the return on him was more valuable.

What's that old saying about someone who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing? Picks and points are a price, the myriad traits of a player the value. you build a team out of players, not points.

This whole thing reminds of Griffen to GWS and I ******* love it.

We're not even close to what the Bulldogs of 2014 were as a list.

Don't know how you can even draw that comparison.

Griffen leaving for GWS really was overrated at the time, people were just getting hysterical because the Dogs had a decent list and in a period where they needed to add something to go to the next level they lost their captain and coach.
