Cripps: "doing some calculations using the AFL points system, we feel like we are basically breaking even by doing the trade"

**** off, the points system means nothing you overpaid, under performing campaigner!
That's pretty embarrassing tbh.

I could swallow this if it was a one off trade. But we have traded our first a second round picks like candy.

In a world of GWS and GC and Sydney who pull picks and players out if the academy or who have 1st rounders stored its going to eventually bite us.

You and me differ on our faith to nail these draft picks.

The only thing I have is I do believe this team is capable next year but if we fail Ryder Dixon polec and now this coupled with the lobbe hammer saga.

Oh boy its going to hurt if we fail.

But the players we traded in for our 1st round picks the last two years are better than what we would have drafted, of this I am sure.

We've got our drafting pretty right of late. DBJ, Impey, Howard, Austin, Frampton, Bonner and Palmer. I back them in to find some pretty special players at 9, 19 and 30.

So we're looking at trading 2018 first round picks to get back into the 2017 first round.

Lobbe's staying.

Close, we swap 2018 first, it pick 5 (+/-3) for 2 SECOND rounders in 2017

Please, please, don't anyone try tell me that technically pick 19 is a first round pick. It isn't

Any pick after pick 15 starts to become a raffle. After pick 25 it is basically a raffle.

Neither are remotely close to the value of a top 10 pick

Cripps doesn't sound that impressive
His reasoning for the trade on AA "in terms of trading our 2nd round pick last year we've got that pick back!"

*Cripps' reaction upon completing trade of next years first rounder for our old 2nd rounder*

I can't help but feel that we are finished for this trade period...

Edit: confirmed by Cripps

Oh my ****ing jesus sweet mary of god. We're a ****ing joke.

So key points from that:

1. Cripps values the AFL points system. Thinks that if we finish 11th, we break even
2. Reckons we will trade future picks in future drafts and it's a good strategy
3. Lobbe will stay
4. Ah Chee will stay
5. No other players trades this period however;
6. We may improve our draft position somehow

Suppose for the sake of argument he's right that we're breaking even. So, uh, why do it to break even?

Exactly what I was thinking. The task is to improve the list Jason not to break even.

One other key point, Cripps must go.

For those who weren't listening, Cripps sounded pretty angry when asked about long term contracts. Says the amount of LTCs at Port are well below league averages.

Edit: Oh, and something like "you know the others who are on LTCs, Wines, Impey, Boak, etc, i'm sure the fans are ok with those". Though that makes it sound more antagonistic than his actual tone.

He can get ****ed.

So, after confirming that no other players are to be traded, at the end of the free agency and trading period, Port Adelaide has so far made the following list changes:

John Butcher
Sam Colquhoun
Kane Mitchell

Ruthless. Making the tough calls.

Now we wait for further delistings of fringe players.
