Not upset with the trade in isolation, but I can't help but feel that we could have got far more in terms of picks for our Pick 9. And please don't tell me Cripps has been wooed by the bullshit draft pick calculator.

Don't see how we could look at our list management and creative negotiating as anything other than thoroughly unimpressive right now.

So we'll have a $350k ruck who can't mark playing in the 2's all year, & O'Shea to play another 6-10 average games until the coaches once again realise he's simply not good enough.

All this against the high likelihood of finishing between 10th-16th. Can someone please submit an audio file of Jason Cripps with Benny Hill music in the back ground.:thumbsu:

We also have a KPF depth chart that looks like this:

Dixon...

The fact that we had 13 players on the table and not one trade will go through is laughable and embarrassing. Heads need to roll. We are a joke.
If you have a garage sale and put out all the stuff you don't want, most of which you have hung to for too long so any value it once had is long gone, and no one buys it even at almost give away prices, because no one else wants that stuff either it's not embarrassing, but it may be sad. :(

Just strolling through in my rose coloured glasses . Wow reading the doomsday posts . Sure it's not perfect but it's not too bad and gives us something to sink our teeth into with the draft . 3 picks in the top 30 that could get us a mid ' a tall and a ruckman all of fairly high quality , that or two mids and a late pick/rookie ruck .
Not perfect but it's a balancing act . Both sides obviously want to win in trades, when your the one that wants to force things you have to pay overs like the Camrys are finding out with Gibbs and we found out with Ryder and Dixon . Clubs would've tried to get Hartlett on the cheap because of the perception we didn't want him , and Lobbe , we didn't want to give them up cheap so it's a stalemate that's the way it goes .
I'm ok with what we've done .

Cripps: "doing some calculations using the AFL points system, we feel like we are basically breaking even by doing the trade"

**** off, the points system means nothing you overpaid, under performing campaigner!

Unbelievable. He went to that straight away, totally unprompted as his reasoning for the trade.

Then "We spend alot of time analysing draft pick value and relative value of picks as a major part of our list management roles" or words to that effect. But ends up with "we used the AFL's crappy draft pick point calculator to value and trade out our 2017 first."

Something doesn't add up here. Don't think Crippsy's excel skills are quite up to it. How about getting someone who specialises in maths, statistics and game theory to do that job instead of ex-footballers ffs?!?

On top of that, using the AFL calculator he still f****** got it wrong anyway. We're supposed to end up ahead on deals idiot!

Reminds me of the post-draft interview of Parker a few years back when asked what he thought of Sam Colquohn not being picked. He was genuinely surprised and unaware of this. We then pick him with our first in the pre-season draft after passing up on him twice in the main draft. Unreal after watching the camera cut to Port's table in the later rounds and they're chatting and laughing and paying no attention to what's going on.

F****** amateurs, get out of PAFC!

Make one shit trade which kills our chances of getting the talented young KPF we desperately, desperately need, keep all our overpaid duds, don't bother trying to pick up a promising mid like Barrett or a desperately needed back-up KPF like Black on the cheap, then sit back and work on the Penske file. Great stuff Port.

You'll eat your words when you see the new and improved NTUA (P_NG_LLY - go on buy a vowel) and the kochawaited teal away guerns.

I guess today confirms that with Cripps heart attack he was left oxygen deprived longer than recommended:eek:
I try to remain positive and hope we have the right people making beneficial decisions but geez:praying:
Port Adelaide...

At the start of this trade period if I'd been told that we'd have picks 9, 19, 30 and 49 I'd be over the moon. But if I'd been told that we had traded out next years first and had no players coming in then I'd have to say we've at best maintained the status quo.
If one of Barrett or Downie to us had been included I reckon we would have just come out on top.

That's all well and good, but Cripps thinks we can get back into the draft by trading players next year. This is his only strategy - to keep trading future draft picks. If no-one wanted our scraps this year and not a single trade went through, then what would make next year any different?

Make no mistake people, if it were possible back then these peanuts would have traded our 2011 first rounder at the end of 2010 and we would be watching Wingard dominate at another club. For a club that has regressed two years in a row and missed finals two years in a row to be trading future first round draft picks is just totally and completely irresponsible.

Next year our good players will want out and then we'll trade Ollie Wines for picks 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44 because if you add up all the points it probably equals a top 3 pick :drunk:

Collingwood into one of our boys very heavily.

Could only be Gray or Wines.

This will get us a first rounder this year and next years back.

Cripps does sound delusional. I wonder if he is the one that came up with "top 4 list".

From Cripps I got the impression he thinks next year we can just trade our 2018 first rounder for a 2017 first rounder ... and continue doing that indefinitely. While its logically correct, it feels like living off the credit card to me.

He also got the shits up when Hartlett was discussed, and pretty much indicated Ken had convinced Hamish to stay on the golf course while he wanted him traded. IMO, regardless of whether we should have traded Hamish or not, this shouldn't be aired in public.

Collingwood don't have any picks to give.

Do we use an abacus or slide ruler to work out our trades?

They'll find a way. Eddie always does.

I'm more pissed off we have actually entertained the offer.
