He took a heavily front loaded contract and then after getting the big money, wanted to change clubs.
Good on Carlton for holding firm.

This was a big reason we played hard ball ( coupled with 3yrs left on a signed contract ) and requested something decent not just #13 and Lyons who the Crows traded for a pick in the 40's anyway so that shows you how much they rated Lyons really.

I am rapt we held our ground.

Yeah I would assume this has everything to do with the fact Port don't even have a cent available in their cap.
Don't assume! he comes from a family of Port haters and we were always going to the draft this year regardless of "exploding celery caps"

His old man absolutely hates Port through the SANFL old days. Salary cap or not, he wouldnt ever play for the club.

When both of Graham Cornes' sons played for your club, I'm not sure that who your father hates holds much weight.

The Bryce is wrong, bitch

meme that.

Carlton did the right thing. I can't imagine Gibbs being anything other than a complete professional and playing to his ability next season, and the two clubs might find themselves at the same juncture again next year. No point getting bent over at the trade table for a contracted player unless you think that guy is going to be a poor influence around the club next season.
