Can't see English making a meaningful contribution in the AFL for at least 3 seasons. He is extremely skinny despite being a year older than the rest of the u18s. He might be gifted games like Daniher who did very little in his first 2 years and was a vastly more talented junior..
I think he'll be 95 kgs by the end of the pre-season, and he'll be able to play as a mobile CHF with stints in the ruck.

Am hearing that we are very keen on Zac Fisher with pick 25
Again, I would ****ing riot

I am not seeing it. Doesn't do the things you want a big man to do. I am seeing a Josh Fraser type big man that doesn't take contested marks or is physical enough to make it as a ruckman, but will get a few kick by himself in space. Will be interesting to see how he develops. Very much being recruited on what people are hoping he could become.

For a small, skinny kid, he did play 10 games at league level, averaging over 18 possessions a game, before injuring his wrist. Plays inside/outside and quick.

'Mobile chf with stints in the ruck'.

There's some quality horseshit.

Buddy or Levi???

Talls are all the same......
Well it's what we're hoping for from McKay.

I think he tests faster than he plays, and I don't rate his field kicking. Buyer beware, especially given SOS' speed bump policy.

Some similarities with English in how he approaches the game, but without as much straight line speed. Needs to put on a few kgs to be useful at AFL level, whereas English could have an impact up forward from day 1, fitness permitting.

English is 20 years old though I think. An article mentioned this is his 2nd or third crack at a draft.

Interesting, makes me think a big fella for our first.

Would be happy with that. Ball magnet, runs all day and has great skills.

Clark, Scharenberg and Galluci are all tough but butcher the footy.

Taranto to Fisher sounds nice.

Updated wish list:

5:Brodie
25:Midfield slider: Venables, SPP (Praying)
48:Midfield slider: Fisher, Drew, Clarke, Sharenberg, Graham, Poholke.
63:Lyons, Lebois, Romensky, Stengle, Ronke
66:Ruck: Olango, Cameron, Ladhams, Goddard
RD: Piper, Kerbatieh, Bayok.
PSD/DFA: Barrett, Richards, Grigg (1 at most)

Players are listed in my preference. I'm predicting, as many others are, that a fair few good players will slide. It looks as though pick 48 is a very good position, with a couple of inside mids predicting to slide to there.

We would be very lucky for some of the players I have listed to fall to our picks, hence why it's a WISH list.

Forget Scrimshaw. Would fail the "no ****head" test

Brodie very unlikely
Taranto maybe
Petrevski-Seton probable
Biggest threat to him - Hayward. He's rocketing
very interesting! thanks for the heads up ericpascoe. are you aware of anyone else we're looking at later in the draft and/or DFA's?

Haven't heard that Scrimshaw was considered a "***head" could you elaborate on this?

That's the thing, isn't it?
We don't have the opportunity to get to know these young men and if the character doesn't fit....stay away....even if it may be seen to be a small loss early on in things.

Can anyone tell me if SPS and Pickett are similar types of players?

From the little i know about them (2 min clips) they both appear to be outside midfielders with good disposal and who like to run and carry however i may be off on this. Can anyone shed any light on their similarities/differences? Would be surprised if we go for a similar player at 5 as Pickett.

Hayward has from all reports pushed himself into first round contention, but I'd be stunned if we used pick 5 on a medium forward.

More than happy to consider him at 25 should he still be there, but pick 5 has to be a midfielder I would have thought.

Have many of you guys taken much of an interest in Tony Olango?

Read the article in The Age and thought l would take a look at his highlights. I saw a bit of him during the champs and thought he did some good things but had a tendency to not quite finish off his good work ultimately making a decision or skill error. I didn't realise just how little footy he has played.

Any watched his YouTube highlights and was just amazed at his movement in traffic or broken play. I have never seen a ruckman move like this kid. His agility and acceleration means that typical midfielders who usually tackle a slow moving ruckman don't even lay a finger on him. In situations where l expect a 200cm guy to be tackled he just breaks away like an athletic midfielder. They say recruiters looks for glimpses in a player at u18 level. Olango definitely has these standout glimpses.

Olango has played such little footy l would expect improvement in decision making and skill. The Age article writes him up as being a smart, hard working individual that has the drive and focus to work on his game.

I would be very keen to take this guy from the 3rd round onwards. Has more upside in his little finger than most in this draft.

If your interested checkout his highlights, in particular the nab all stars game, there are a few plays that standout and are worth watching. I was just stunned because l hadn't noticed it so much when watching games live.
