may as well move onto something positive. The Gibbs money + Thompson saving and Jarrad Lyons savings will nab us a rejuvenated Rockliff and Martin right ?

Sure, we can overpay with 2nd rounders for contracted fringe players but if we, the AFC, actually want to land a big fish they have to be out of contract.

FA may help but prob only a bit as the big fish are Restricted.

No more time wasting with guys under contract at the top end because the premium is exorbitant.

Fyfe…zero chance.

Rockliff…maybe possible if we want him

Martin…football wise the pick of the bunch, won't be getting success at Richmond…but will he want to move to SA?

We have great cars he can steal and apparently fantastic recreational drugs! Crows don't go for players like Martin, he's got the wrong hair cut.

some clubs are going to blow their heads next year with Quality of FA and uncontracted players available. We should forget Gibbs or grab him for a 3rd round pick. We could also put salary cap pressure on PA Port Adelaide Jasper Pittard or Jackson Trengove. Even if we don't get them they will feel the pressure.

Thing is, none of the best GWS players are moving for success. Makes it a harder sell by far.

I'm predicting there will be some big names out of GWS at the end of 2017. If they lose picks for the Lachie Whitfield saga, they will need to trade for some first round picks to take their academy kids. Their academy kids are worth more to them than their victorian players, as their academy kids won't have a go-home pull when they reach free agency.

Maybe not "go-home", but a lot of them will still be wanting to play their footy in the "big smoke" of Melbourne.

It's easy to say that Melbourne is no more "home" to a kid from Wagga Wagga than Sydney. People forget that the reverse is also true.
