Ropeable .....but i believe Hird when he says that wasn't his intention

We're talking from a rear view mirror POV and the outcomes ....not from what i believe was the original intention
Wasn't the original intention "whatever it takes"?

That's fair, if you believe he is innocent! I personally don't.
No i don't believe he's innocent at all ......my dislike for Essendon and Hird is immeasurable, but that POV is from the point in time that Essendon self reported, not what i believe to be Hirds original intention

But remember we are talking about a proud man who since his facial injury cannot sleep at night without help. All of a sudden watching his family abused and unable to do damn thing.
How would you react if your kids were being abused and you could do nothing?
Probably would cheat on my wife and mother of my children, but maybe that's just me.

But i don't believe Hird actually committed a crime .....i fully believe him when he says he gave strict instructions that the program had to be fully compliant with ASADA

His problem was not checking that his instructions were being complied with, although as previously posted i blame Danny Corcoran ......at Adelaide who is ultimately responsible for the supplements program Pyke or Burton??

No, Hirds issue was his banging his head against a brick wall stubbornness, as perceived by the public ....and his flagrant disregard for the competition, the EFC, and anyone else (friends) that stood in the was of him vindicating himself
I wont delve into whether or not he committed a crime. He certainly will have concerns going forward if anyone of the players has medical issues directly related to the time at EFC. Though that will also be up to the Legislators to make the changes to protect people. Workplace Law?

I agree he failed to check the legality, but neither did he stop it when he felt ( or should have) that it was getting out of hand ie letter from Bruce Reid or the offsite injections. The Offsite stuff would have been a huge red flag for me.

I agree with the last para

I also think the fact that he got off pretty lightly from the afl means that a lot of the public go harder on him because they feel that he he escaped his punishment! Often if something like this isn't properly handled, someone else feels they need to handle it themselves!
Put the fine aside for a minute ......the Crows penalties were more severe than Essendon's .....that is laughable

Come on Wayne - Hird knew the drugs were experimental.

Have you never read his SMS transcripts?

Do yourself a favour & read them, as it settles all the doubt of his innocence.

Yes this infamous letter that will become as famous in folklore as the JF Kennedy 2nd shooter .......what you raise is correct & IMO those issues have never been adequately explained to anyone's satisfaction

I also don't like that hird was taking stuff himself. Stuff that was banned for players if I remember correctly. Doesn't paint a great picture. Wasn't it something to make him more tanned? Ridiculous.

No i haven't read the txt messages .....experimental may be correct, harmful to players in anyway, i can't accept that as anyone's intention or even a remote possibility ......enter Stephen Dank

Melanotan-2 tanning injections promoted as safe despite serious ...

Hird knew the drugs were experimental & side-effects not all known.

He pushed Dank to give the cocktail of drugs to his players, not fully knowing what their impact could be... making his players guinea pigs.

Innocent my arse!

Just doesn't sit well with me, taking this shit for aesthetics when he is in a senior position, supposed to be a role model. Hey kids, if you want darker skin, go bang up some chemical
Simon Goodwin apparently also did as well

Which murderers are treated better?

Don't recall Hird being jailed, but imo should have been.

And I think that a lot of the backlash from supporters towards Hird, Essendon, and the players involved is because many see the penalties as manifestly inadequate.

Had all of them been sanctioned appropriately then everyone else would have moved on.
