Cancelled
Wasn't at the game but from all reports we were far from disgraced. The second half would have been entertaining with 21 goals being kicked.

"And as long as the new team is not Port, all will be well".Trust the 1990 edition of the Magpie News I copied that out of - oh and it tallies with my memory of the game.
Played at Footy Park in front of around 35,000 AFL-hungry spectators. But oh no said the visionaries at the SANFL, we're happy solely with the product in our backyard and don't want anything to do with that nasty national competition.
i missed this one, was at the freo trial game though...where you also lost.
It's we Wookie, it's WE.
How about now?keep trying buddy.
How about now?
I'll just leave this here to help familiarise with the surroundings.

Trouble is I remember him differently in 1987....
and in 1995....
There is a lifestyle board on bigfooty.
This bump made me excited...alas only 10 seconds or so of footage.anyone found a copy of this game?
Jim Dixon not sure if you are still around but your line above was quoted by Norman Ashton in his new book Destiny - How Port Adelaide put itself on the national stage. It's a historic game. I'd love to read an insiders account of the whole 1990 saga and I bet this game would have gelled some thinking around the boardroom.
It would have been a pretty reasonable specatacle as well. That was a pretty massive Geelong team in that era.....
SAFM heavily promoted it. I wonder if they have any material apart from the footy budget booklet from the game.I went through my boxes of Port stuff but found nothing, not even in this 1990 copy of the Football times.View attachment 605472
Yeah possibly.SAFM heavily promoted it. I wonder if they have any material apart from the footy budget booklet from the game.
I too would be super keen on getting this game if someone hit the record button at the time and kept it.
