Promethius was a large letdown, regardless of the nice graphics and settings. The previews had me expecting great things, which was probably my own fault anyway.

I very nearly walked out of the cinema right there and then watching that movie, was royally pissed. Love James Cameron's quotes on it.

Watched Alien. 18-year-old me liked it a lot more than 29-year-old me does. Surprised! Maybe it doesn't hold up well or maybe I've just seen a shitload more movies in the 11 years since that I need more to be impressed.

Only the first three films to me are sacred canon.

The rest are spin-offs to have fun with. Alien Resurrection and Prometheus do more than enough in this department to pleasure. I saw Prometheus twice on the big screen and got my fan experience, even if the film is flawed. I loved Alien Resurrection as a kid. AVP1 was also solid for what it was. Requiem is the only stinker, but can whet some subset fan appetites.

If you don't take these franchise films too seriously, they can be alright. The first three are part of my personal canon, so leave them the hell alone, but have fun beyond that and hopefully I will too.

Really enjoyed rewatching the 4 Alien flicks back to back last year, so am much the same in any criticism of them is long past it's use by date. They stand up really well, even the 4th is a charmer in it's own special way, much like Godfather3.

Watched it again and it wasn't as bad as I thought but frustratingly it still only ends up like a 6/10 film because of the stupidity in the screenplay when it could be an 8+/10. Although it seriously wouldn't take much to 'fix' it into being a lot better. Haven't seen it but reading through the changes 'Giftbearer' made in the fan edit they sound good. Hopefully Ridley one day realises this and makes a decent Directer's cut.

Do yourself the proverbial & watch Giftbearer, it is a far superior flick. I see it is still being seeded, pm me if you want a link.

^probably should be a mild spoiler warning on that considering the trailers have showed an apparently uninhabited planet.

I wish the movie was an expanded version of that prologue, would be heaps better IMO.
