Teams Team Development (Final Two Weeks)

Anyone else here find that after picking their side they have 3-6 mid price risks? And wonder where the **** they got there?

I have 8 lol
There aren't any good rookies and we don't have strong set&forget ruck options

Usually it's GnR and away you go. This year it just isn't that easy

Yep, every year, guns and rookies. This year, you need to pick those 300-450k players.
But it is good, means alot of sides will be different instead of them being so similar in years gone by.

Try going Oliver down to a Hibberd and Omeara up to a premo and see what your team ends up looking like.

Cheers. If I do anything it'll probably be Oliver to rookie and Tuohy to H Shaw. Then play around with rookies with left over cash.

Smash this team to bits, have no confidence in this team at all. Players I don't have locked away are Shaw, Adams, Parker and Grundy.

Nice pods in Jelwood and Parker! they will both go massive!

Rest of your team is pretty standard, Grundy is probably the safest of the main rucks but his scoring is abit questionable given lack of HTA. But who knows he might improve this year?

The lack of rookies atm has led me to this mid priced team.

Wouldn't mind them all to break out but it is doubtful and the cash generation will probably be a problem, but I can always cull a few mid prices with early corrective trades. Might actually pay off

I have a similar setup. When I look at ownership my teams only has Oliver as a genuine POD. I think that as you said the lack of rookies means a lot of teams will have mid pricers. Also there seems to be a good bunch of mid pricers around this year.

Have gone a fair few midpricers this year, if there is a year to do it, it is this one. Lack of rookie options means not a huge amount of choice.

Defenders

• Went with the "big three", seems like Shaw and Doch will do what they do this year, with Laird looking to improve and maybe play up the ground as well.
• Hampton and Otten on field is what i'm confident in, they have been scoring well in JLT, with Hampton playing in the guts, no CEY to compete with either.
• Marchbank, idk, gut feeling if i'm honest. Maybe a waste of money, what is the alternative here? I'd prefer him on the field over some like EVW?

Midfielders

• Fairly standard with premos, maybe Titch into Bont for a bit of POD action
• I have liked Beams, has a huge ceiling, gut feeling again
• Swallow has been okay in JLT, however, I'd prefer him on the field over someone like Parfitt or Hibberd. Again, it is a lack of quality rookie options.

Rucks

• I have no idea if i'm honest, I have shyed away from Gawn, especially if Spencer is named RD1. Goldy does not inspire me, at least Pryder has looked good as a sole ruck, am hoping Lobbe is not named. Have also looked at Stef.
• I think this is not a year for "set and forget." Rucks are up in the air this year and it isn't obvious who will do well this year. Sandi seems like a good option, toss up between Nank.

Forwards

• Standard dogs duo. I like Roughy, seems to be playing up the ground in a more mobile role, less a mid pricer and more of a fallen premium.
• Steele is a gut pick. He is playing in the midfield, has good tackle numbers, that could all fall to rubble, so yeah, not a huge amount of reasoning. WHE isn't too expensive, and similar to Marchbank, he is preferable over a rookie option (not exactly a huge amount)

Anyway, feel free to tear it apart, honestly I have thought hard, but that seems to also go out the window when it comes to my gut. A lot of these mid pricers are screaming at me to stay away.

I posted in the POD thread some numbers on other players second years. I think he could increase from 70 last year to 95 this season. I really need at least very close to that ton be worth it. It's really quiet possible.

I'm much happier putting Witts into R3 as Sandi cover and cash generation than playing Ryder or Nank as a fwd.

Settled on this now, way more mid pricey than I'd hoped but think Touhy, Kelly, Ryder and Rough can be keepers, need ruck cover and if Lobbe doesn't play, for me Ryder is the stand out choice...really only see Kelly as the big risk, love this guy and with no Coniglio or Whitfield I think he will explode this year.

I've already done that as I'm anticipating Spencer being named
Gawn comes back in if Spencer isn't named

Very hard to keep it simple when I don't like any of the rucks
Sandi is locked at R2, R1 is a joke though

• Gawn is overpriced and Spencer is lurking
• Goldy had an interrupted preseason, is almost $600k and playing for a much weaker side
• Stef burnt me bad last year so I'm still hurting, I also think Archie will play 10+ games this year
• Mummy and Grundy won't average over 100 imo, so $520k-$540k is a lot for them

I think Ryder can go 92-100, so for $420k I'll hapilly throw him in at R1
