Toss is the game

Yep. The game rides on it. However, with that in mind...

We need to bat as well as we did in Pune and the first half of Bangalore. Just keep playing straight guys - don't play for turn. You did that so well until collapsing in the 2nd innings.

As for our spinners, hopefully Lyon can find some rhythm and SOK can choke them off.

I expect Hazlewood to be tight even if the bounce might not be too his liking.

Interesting to see what Cummins does. I haven't seen him in years. I know he was quick and got steep bounce but does he reverse the ball?

The spoiler is Smith. Not because of how he was dismissed in the 2nd innings, but because he's too indecisive a captain. He lets games drift away, in Perth and also in Bangalore. Bowling quicks too long etc... Someone needs to have a word in his ear about that.

There is a good Test captain there - his captaincy vs Pakistan at the MCG was great. Maybe he needs to be told when the games drifting and not be scared to change things up?

Reckon O'Keefe will be the key player with those sliding deliveries vying for LBW similar to Pune.

Any word yet on who will come in at 6? I was hoping Khawaja before Starc got injured but with Cummins now in and a chance to breakdown they have no choice but to play a 5th bowler.

Not likely though. It's not a pitch it's a goat track and skill isn't a big part of batting on it.

Can we at least see how the pitch plays first?

At least we don't have Mitch Marsh being a useless dud at 6. That can help us actually making runs.

As long as you're chasing less than fifty, any more than, and whoever bats last will be long odds to win.

How abut the side actually show some patience- apart from Renshaw who has done this? Now look at the last test in the 2nd dig, apart from Sith and Renshaw, which players got unplayable balls? It shows that even then it was possible to bat 2nd. Instead we decide to gift wickets and make it easier for India. I don't believe for 1 second that it was impossible to bat on.

You've not seen a ball bowled on it you pleb

Exactly.... how many pitches are meant to be impossible and yet turn out to be tough but fair for both sides? Can we at least watch a session first before calling the pitch a disgrace!
