You know what he looks like? A bloke who competes in a sport that requires endurance. Like endurance motor cross racing which he's been doing for at least the past seven years. Plus I doubt you'd be getting a seriously ill bloke down to your club as a coach.

As someone who competes in this discipline of racing, I can confirm two things.
1. The last thing you want to do is carry extra weight.
2. The weight drips off you on the longer races.

Highly underrated physical sport that requires a lot of agility and massive concentration.

holy s**t i thought that was a pic of the loser from midnight oil. he looks seriously bad :~(

Wish I looked that bad.

If he can run around the training track or catch a few bombs then there is nothing wrong.

but he did look a bit emaciated but there is always this conjecture about thinness. no time to rattle cages just yet.

he is just very different to what he used to be and that isn't always negative.

Must be short of a dollar to go on the footy show. Doubt he'd go there if hiding an illness. The coaching maybe, but not tfs.

How awkward was that interview on The Footy Show.

btw, he said he was not ill at all.

What made awkward was the amateur hour questioning. People talking over the top of one another and then Billy chiming in with his boring froffies crap. No wonder your missus went elsewhere

When he retired (for the 2nd time) he wasn't exactly slim. He must have been pushing 120kg at that stage. Immoveable in the goal square but the problem was changing ends each quarter. Interesting that he's taken up an endurance sport as an asthmatic. Of course it can be managed but it can make it all the harder. I'd have him back in our goal square just to tie up 2 or 3 defenders while Buddy crumbed around him.

Someone on our board who I know has a lot of contacts in footy-land including St Kilda said that he's actually trying to get down to 75kg, so that he'll be better able to compete against those who are 10kg's lighter than that in the motorbike races.
I'm plugger's height and was a similar body shape to what he was when he was playing and now I'm pretty much exactly the body shape he is now. Having been down to 72kg before (training for marathons), he could easily get there, but staying there will be nigh on impossible. The body has a way of reprogramming itself to what it wants to be.

Plugger has always been a a bit of a recluse, never much liked the media or anyone to do with it, hence why the interview was awkward. Various media outlets had been trying to get him for years, so when Frawley talked him into coming out of rural NSW to accept legend status it kind of kick-started an interest again talking to past players who make up the attendees at HoF dinners. So after over a decade of everyone trying to get him in as a specialist forward goalkicking coach Sydney finally convinced him to do it.

The interview was done because they basically rolled a truck up to his door and said here will you do an interview
