Ports been making sanfl lots of money for many more decades. Does not make the rent free any more justified
The truth is we have been generating millions in revenue for the SANFL even in our darkest years. Just because they had to give the money BACK that we generated, doesn't mean we weren't making money. An average 25,000 people attending Port games weekly, even in our dark times makes money no matter which way you spin it. It was the SANFL's greed to leech all that revenue away from the PAFC that was the problem. The SANFL tried to use us as a cash cow and fortunately our supporters wont stand for that.

Watching them try to argue that a vlub they say started in 1997 should be penalised for 1996 breaches has been most amusing.

"PORT POWER FOOTBALL CLUB, EST. 1995/1996/1997" (not sure which year, they never get their bullshit story straight)

and yet, hate Port for the events of 1990, work that out...

I know from a good source that we got a significantly better deal with Cathay to what CSA was offering. If the Crows got the same deal offered to us, they are welcome to have it.
I think we all know this. Cathay are now a Premier Partner with us, as well as a sponsor in the China push. That's 2 separate areas of involvement. Not just the 1 premier/platinum partnership they have with the Crows.

Might burst their bubble a bit.

Clearly he's got no concept of the term 'heavy lifting' and would be happy to still be supporting an AFL team that plays at AAMI stadium, doesn't own its licence, has no reserves team, has no Shed to celebrate post match, is barely scraping by due to their horrid stadium deal even though they weekly sell out, etc. etc.

It's just super frustrating. Like, when you read cerebral sludge in various comments sections (Facebook, Twitter, AdelaideNow) you may raise an eyebrow at the ignorance but you know you're digesting s**t from a short-order cook. A bit like whining about a bad burger from McDonald's.

Examples such as earlier are something else.

Otherwise intelligent and rational types wade in, weaned on the Fruchoctopian creation story = Port people are feral fools and their club is a bludging, treacherous entity that has done nothing for the game/state except take [sic] whereas the Adelayfoobawcluh is the light on the hill that nourishes neonates and serves as the engine that propels the sun o'er the horizon; and 99% of their takes are predicated on that busted narrative.

So set against the backdrop of predictably horrible media spin in the wake of their China-themed sponsorship deal, when Ford points to Port Adelaide's record of once again putting in a shift of 'heavy lifting' for the benefit of not just ourselves but our rivals (and beyond), with a cheeky nod to the stacks-on behaviour of the yang to our ying, a challenger appears like a startled meerkat.

Which is cool in itself, debate should be welcomed lest we slip into the awfulness that is "OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS CAN FOH" echo chambery, but to misconstrue the point being made as "he said Adelaide weren't a heavyweight of the comp! [he did nothing of the sort, they clearly are]" and then frame that argument around 'handouts' based on a $2m-odd disparity in the 2016 AFL revenue distribution is the stuff of childhood lead poisoning.

But, here we are.

I might be ignorant here but.

How does one win a "7 figure 2 year" sponsorship deal after a "competitive tender".

It sounds like CSA went to a heap of clubs and said here's 2 million over 2 years... what are you going to give us. The crows being the sloppy seconds lovers they are dropped their pants and said anything you want.

Should make for an interesting conversation with the father in law tonight he for months has been on the Ports selling out the state, its all a Chinese land grab etc.

What I find myself wondering is how the Crows are going to handle all this China distraction when it's all about winning games of football.
