Okay so we've had a lot of new guys last season and so far this year. Time to make some predications so we can bump the thread in 10 years and laugh at everyone for bad opinions. Including mine possibly. Of course some of these guys are teenagers and trying to predict their development is basically impossible (who saw Aliir coming?) but the point of the thread is to do it so don't give me this "he's too young" business.

The question is - who of the following will play 150+ games? I've picked the guys on our list who have debuted but played less than 20 games.

James Rose
Jordan Foote
Will Hayward
Oliver Florent
Nic Newman
Harrison Marsh
Jordan Dawson
Sam Naismith
Aliir Aliir
Robbie Fox

I think Hayward, Marsh, Aliir and Naismith will go on to play 150 games.

Rose will probably get cut this year.

Foote, Newman and Fox will probably be depth players for a few years but won't have huge impact.

Florent is giving me huge Pat Veszpremi vibes, I.e a bust.

Jordan Dawson will struggle to get a game when we're all fit.

I suspect Foote and Dawson may get more games than some think.

A subsidiary question though: how many of these careers will finish in Swans colours?

I think Aliir Aliir has the potential to be a franchise player in Sydney.

Naismith will hopefully push on as a required player.

Every other player on that list will have to work hard for 100 games. But if they get there they'll be entrenched in this club.

What's the average life span of an AFL player? 100 - 125 games maybe? So to make 150+ means you are really good for an extended period of time...

Nothing I've seen from these guys has led me to believe they are something special, so I think they will be lucky to make the 75 game mark (with Jordan Dawson being a question mark as I know nothing about him):
James Rose
Jordan Foote
Harrison Marsh
Jordan Dawson

All of these guys have something imo and are likely to make 150+ (with Naismith being the least certain because I think the really big guys get hurt more):
Will Hayward
Oliver Florent
Nic Newman
Sam Naismith
Aliir Aliir

Cream of the crop, 200+ guys:
Will Hayward
Nic Newman
Aliir Aliir

Lol I like him a lot! :D

The question was who would make to 150+ and I think he will, but I also think he will go further and be a 200+ gamer, so he fits in both categories :)

I like Robbie Fox. He's combative, he stays on his feet, he seems to make good decisions. There's something of the Brett Kirk about him.

Hayward and Florent have the class. Give Dawson some time, it wasn't the best style of game for a debutant flanker.

Foote puts in, but I just don't think he has the requisite skills. Looking to hand off within 40m (and with good reason!) is just not AFL standard.

Marsh was ok but I'm not sure he'll ever be best 22.

There's some serious undervaluations on Marsh here. The kid has only played 10 senior games! His matches against Port & Collingwood were strong performances, I can easily see him going 200+ matches.

Yeah I thought his game on Friday night was really good. His defensive work was great and he started reminding me of Malceski a little bit with his rebound (although not as good a kick).

I guess the question is will there be room for him in the backline in the next few years?
