Autopsy Rd 3 v Essendon. Blues win by 15

Watched Replay, first of all Essendope are soft as butter and can not play wet weather footy.
The top line mids played well, Murphy 32 possessions 6 clearances 2 clutch goals and 10 tackles, was BOG IMO Gibbs 35 possessions, 8 clearances, 9 tackles, was not far behind, Kruezer 14 possessions, 8 clearances, 11 tackles, got back on top in the ruck in the 2nd half and was influential.
Cripps 24 possessions 4 clearances, Doc 20 possessions, Simmo 21 and Ed 24 possessions 6 clearences 7 tackles were solid and had there moments, was great that we didn't have to rely on Cripps in the midfield.

But what stood out most re watching this game, was how frecking good SPS played, this kid is going to be a super star, he was so clean with ball in hand, it was pretty ridiculous really.
That goal he kicked was crazy good, players everywhere fumbling, falling over, heavy traffic, SPS just grabs the footy, fakes a handball, goes bang on the left boot goal, that's top shelf stuff and he is electric with his defensive tackling pressure.
I love how we are playing him as a mid/forward and really getting some development in him playing as a midfielder.
Has McGrath well and truely covered for talent IMO.

The other pleasing aspect of this game was Plowman's form, he is really building into a very good defender, starting to see some of the rebound footy he can play.
Our young backline was really on show on Sunday and I'd have to say was bloody impressive, Marchbank didn't play his best game, but was still very impressive.
Macreadie has blown me away abit, was not expecting him to play this early and look so comfortable at AFL level, could be a massive steal at pick 48.
Williamson was also as impressive as you could expect on debut, he just looked up to it, think there is definitely a emthisis on getting players into the side that have good foot skills, this Williamson kid has a lovely left foot, Macreadie kicking is pretty tidy too.

I see what you are saying to an extent. "The we are not insiders bit" can confound every post on this board and make it pointless to post on Bigfooty. I could trawl almost all of my posts, yours and everyone else's and say the same thing over and over...
Oh, I know; it's not the best of arguments, really.

I suppose, if I'm to simplify what I'm trying to say to its smallest form, I'm asking everyone who has postulated that White would be dropped at all why they keep doing it, when it's obviously not going to happen. Is it just repetition for its own sake? Why do something over and over and over again, without any evidence that anything's changed, and expect a different outcome?

Plus he can tag if necessary. Wouldn't get near the best 22 of a top 8 team, but he's playing an important role for us at the moment.
There about 10 Hawthorn premiership players who don't look they would be best 22 in a top 8 team at the moment. Would be easier to play for Hawthorn 2012-2016 than it would Carlton over the same period. We will see how good the likes of Stratton and Durayea really are now the team is struggling.

Same last year with Phillips.

There's always a chance of change and if Phillips is available this week it will be interesting to see if he gets selected. Have rule changes and games styles changed enough to change the mindset of the MC?

Because this forum is a platform for fans to share their opinions?

Of course we see less than club insiders, and if we had access to all the information they had we'd probably revise our opinions.

I'm not saying the club has to drop White this week. I'm not saying we'll lose if they don't. I'm simply saying that, on what I've seen, I'd lean towards leaving him out this week given the match-up and conditions so that we can go with a quicker team with a little more upside (long term).

Our kids are standing up now, no reason we can't take away one of the crutches and see how they go.

I get all of that, believe me. I'm becoming repetitive now - which is what I'm complaining about - so this will be my last comment on the matter.

I understand the impulse to do something, to come up with reasons for things, but for the life of me I just don't understand why you - the collective you - insist on 'dropping' a player who just won't get dropped. White is obviously doing something we don't see, which is assuring his selection every week. It just sticks out at me that I read this every week - not this one, as he had a good match against Essendon - and it never happens; if it makes me tired to read it, surely it does the same to those who say it over and over?

Starting to now... ;)

Do I think White will be dropped after a solid performance in a win? Nah, doubtful. I'm just giving my two cents after each game for those who care to read it. I'm a footy fan who grew up playing cricket - others probably notice a lot of things that go right over my head because I've never played the game. But for what it's worth, I'll keep sharing my opinions until my boss tells me to get back to work.

She's on leave this week, so you're all stuck with me a bit longer...

it sends a bad message to every player on the list when a guy busts his gut in tough conditions, is probably in our best 5 players, and gets dropped for a youth policy, just because. Spots in the team should be earned, White has earned his spot for next week.

If you think White doesn't know exactly where we're at as a club, and how he fits into that, then you're dreaming. He gets games as long as we need him getting games. And he could bust his arse every game and still find himself in the VFL while he's still got something to offer because our rejuvenation hinges on getting our quality young kids into the side as soon as they're ready, and developing them properly at AFL level.

We need to balance rewarding endeavour with developing for the future. It's a fine line, and I understand that people will fall on the other side of it - I'm just not sure why all these people are jumping to Whitey's defence when he's not being panned, we're just taking a longer view.

take the longer view in 2 or 3 weeks when he falls back into mediocrity, and if he doesn't and holds his spot, even better!

The main man putting his hand up to displace White from the VFL on the weekend was Alex "nepotism" Silvagni and he's older than Simon. :p
