He isnt a superstar but he is very good quality, would rate as the 2nd best mid in our team, not worth debating that

Are you taking into consiedration the fcat no one of Quality wants to come to the AFC when deciding how much on overs you would pay

Your theory that we should pay more at the trade table because no-one wants to come here makes absolutely no sense to me.

Whether or not Adelaide is a desirable destination for a player has absolutely zero bearing on their worth at the trade table.

It's great that Gibbs wanted to come home, but agree with the club's decision to not mortgage our list to make it happen.

We shouldn't be putting our list in jeopardy by paying huge overs just for the feel good factor of bringing a semi-high profiled name to the club. That's the sort of stuff that's been happening down the road and we all have seen how that has turned out.

Of course it does if they dont want to come here, leveridge needs to be offered

As for the other reason we had to pay overs in terms of a trade, as he was contracted, now thats just common sense, no one with half a brain can argue with that

It doesn't matter how much you offer in a trade for a player if they don't want to come here!

Offering MORE doesn't make them want to come here any more, ffs.

Is douglas declining? Hinkley and Pyke both gave him votes in the showdown, always a good sign you are hurting the opposition when their coach puts you in the best players
He could well be at the end of this year. He is 30, after all. His output seems to have also declined since 13-15, even if he has improved on 16. Gibbs would be an upgrade on him, nonetheless

Do carlton have or owe any extra draft picks next year? If they are still in full rebuild mode like it currently looks. Pretty sure they will take the late first rounder for gibbs if we are still interested.

But Gibbs wanted to come here, what we offer to opposition clubs has no bearing at all on whether a players wants to come to the club or not.

Club "Do you want to come to Adelaide?
Player "No"
Club "how about we pay your current club overs on the trade table"
Player "okay, I'm sold"

It makes absolutely no sense.

Ive said numerous times, players move to come home or cash, the others that are looking for opportunity arent that good which is why they arent getting opportunity

Gibbs fell in the go home, unfortunatly he has three years to run on his contract, he is somewhat of a dimwit for signing a contract then wanting out. If Rory wanted to go home with three years on his contract then we would play harder than SOS

The other section of players are looking for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ like betts did as long as they are FA's or uncontracted chances are you can do a deal for fair value

We are talking SOS hes not easy to deal with

That's where it's important as a club to not be perceived as a "push over".

If SOS wants to develop a reputation of being hard to deal with then the last thing the Crows would want to do is develop a reputation for being the opposite, otherwise we send a message to opposition clubs that all they have to do is set a high trade price and wait for Adelaide to cave and pay it.

I understand about having to pay over contract wise to attract players, but you were arguing about paying overs trade wise to attract players.

Never was. its common knowledge why players move around and its either cash or go home. Wanted players that is

If gibbs was uncontraced he would be here right now we would have got the deal done for slightly unders I would say

As for those greedy buggers like Ablett, Buddy, Bock, Davis, Scully, Betts , money talks BS walks

Carlton have been in rebuild mode for 15 years.

And Gibbs isn't worth a first rounder anymore. High 2nd is the most i'd give, with a fringe player.
FFS a voice of reason. Finely. Yes. Thats his value come October whereby his firsf game for us will not be till March 2018.

Carlton f**ked up big time, they should have traded him last year. Now his value has dropped dramatically for literally no gain towards their next flag push.

How much of a difference will he actually make? Which player is he taking the place of and what extra is he going to give?

Think back to your best 22 last week. Think about the worst player in that 22 or the last one picked.

You know; the one that everyone was calling for to be dropped after the game. The one whose blood everyone howls for whenever you have a loss.

Gibbs replaces that guy.

Pretty sure they will take the late first rounder for gibbs if we are still interested.

I'm thinking your first and second for Gibbs and our third.

Assuming you blokes finished runner-up this year it would be picks at 17 and 35 with 41 coming back your way.

McGovern is every chance to seek a trade to the Eagles and if he did it would be their first rounder coming back to you. So instead of 17 and 35, you would have 16 and 41, plus Gibbs.
