How could Rayney, in light of this be the ONLY suspect? Has there been any investigation into the history of Rayney prosecuting either of these two, Lacco and Eades or any of their associates?

Sounds really suspicious doesn't it. Planned. Revenge on Mr Rayney via kiilling his wife? Organised hit by Mr Rayney? Hit not involving Mr Rayney and Corryn got involved with something or someone she shouldn't? So many variables.

Edit: for those not familiar with Kings Park, it is about 4km square (1003 acres) of mainly bush and naturally managed botanical gardens sitting on top of Mount Eliza in the centre of Perth. Below Kings Park is the river and the city centre. It contains war memorials, some beautiful touristy walk trails, a cafe, a nice restaurant, adventure play grounds and grasslands but it is still a huge chunk of carefully protected thick bushland.

Incredible that Marshall was allowed to use her influence in the press to steer a murder investigation especially when the public's been locked out of getting any information at all on a serial killer. Information that we're entitled to.

I think Shelly is talking about Rayney... and we are only hearing a good chunk of this now, after he was acquitted and is suing everyone.

One question I had after reading the detectives statement was this: why would a detective, investigating a murder, have to 'take it upon himself' to investigate a possible POI? Would that not be a standard avenue of investigation?

Taxpayers are entitled to everything actually, the transparency I'm not sure we're going to get under willy nilly arbitrary suppression orders ... you know how it goes and the gag orders on anybody involved in the MACRO investigation. WApol were more than willing over the years to use the press and the public to publicly condemn two innocent men, I call that outrageous 'entitlement' now they withold and deny the public any good information they're supposed to have

He wasn't charged with possession of said child pornography "..... because the defence he provided was plausible and it was considered the prospect of a conviction was 'very slim'." There's a defence for possession of child pornography, who knew?

There's a defence for possession of child pornography, who knew?

There are several. Most commonly it's that the said images are found only as deleted files and the person comes up with some reason such as someone sent them to him, and when he opened them and saw what they were he deleted them immediately. Or that they are from a website he visited, and says he closed as soon as he saw what was there. Probably bullshit, but prove otherwise.

I can see the Claremont case going judge only. It was always said that LW would be judge only case because the case was so high profile.

A judge only trial would mean the public don't see the more intricate evidence of the case? More chance the medias version of events?

Im sure I read that Julie Cutlers car seat had been removed? Maybe this was to prevent the vehicle floating? I doubt the seat would have made its way out the window. Someone with some knowledge of vehicles. Ex surf club. Robyn Paton SANTEN was ex clubby. Someone was a clubby? Used to driving in sand?

Obviously, the car being tossed around in the surf dented the vehicle up considerably. Just bobbing up and down would have flattened. It was winter solstice. In the thick of it.

No doubt when the car went down the ramp, it would have hit the water and all the lights come as the electrics earthed. It would be interesting to see if the tyres had been deflated and the vehicle drive into the surf via the surf club ramp.

It would be cool to see the vehicle report.

In late May or early June, Julie rang her father to report an alarming incident in which she had been driving home in her Fiat sedan from work along the Stirling Highway.
Julie told her father, Roger, that a car had followed her closely for several kilometres along Stirling Highway, almost touching her rear bumper at times and seemed to be trying to force her off the road.
As she approached a turn-off in the beach side suburb of Cottesloe, the car pulled alongside and then suddenly veered in front of her. Ms Cutler swerved around it and sped away, later reporting the incident to police.

Rayneys car parked outside the friends house. Isn't that a bit too obvious? Like he was being framed? Who the hell parks their wifes car outside the friends house after they allegedly murdered wife?
Reversing over a bollard was going to cause considerable damage to the vehicle, especially when making its way out again back over the bollard.

Are DPP lawyers that apt at hardcore track driving over bollards with a dead body in the car? Rayney isn't exactly James Bond. If it goes wrong, would the cart the body? Corryn would be 70kgs?

Was it the friends that attended the wedding where the place-card came from?

Most back seats are on clips, not bolted in. I've seen people pop those things out in a couple of manouvres with a knee in the middle, it would have dislodged with the first good belt to the side and the back window broken first decent thump on the roof, seat floats straight out that big back window.

I don't think the seat floated out the back window. I'm betting the seat is bigger than the window itself. Maybe someone wanted access from the boot to the back seat and removed it prior? Someone had to ensure the seat hit saltwater to hinder the investigation.
Id say they wanted the car sink out of sight into the depths during winter. The vehicle was then discovered 2 days later?

Need to see exactly which what where or the topic just rolls into a continuum of speculation.

Police will be looking at the Julie Cutler evidence to see if any of it connects with the current CSK suspect.

It seems odd that the car was not taken further a field and burnt out. Was the car placed deliberately?

Superintendent Ron Carey, who investigated the case, said the back seat of the car had been washed out of the vehicle and was found on a nearby beach.
"If the back seat could wash out why didn't Julie's body if she was in the car? Why didn't her shoes, handbag or some other item of property wash up?" he said while being interviewed for the Channel Nine documentary "To Catch a Killer" ten years ago.
"I believe she was never in the car when it went off Cottesloe Groyne. I believe that Julie was murdered and that the body was buried or secreted somewhere else before the car was dumped in the ocean."

This was an old car and I didn't say it was easy to get them out there's a technique to it but many are on clips and sliders. Dan, I've seen people do it more than once. Fiat back seats are only about 20 pounds each and contain plastics, the moment they dislodged they would have been looking for a way out and within an hour of jumping about would have found it going sideways out the back window. This is the thing about that car I'm most sure of.

DNA from a silk dressing gown seems to have been the key to the Claremont charges. The garment, apparently dropped by an intruder who tried to rape an 18-year old Huntingdale woman in 1988 reportedly connects the same person to the murder of Ms Rimmer and Ms Glennon.

Former WA police officer, and now a private detective, Mick Buckley has been watching the growth of prosecutions based on DNA evidence in recent years.

"It's been a game-changer. The ability to go back to old DNA evidence and test it again and again as new techniques become available is a huge thing for detectives and cold case investigators," he said.
