We used to run & carry the ball, even with slingshot. We don't run anymore, just handball-handball-up&under to a 2-on-1.

^This! Saw a passage of play in the 4th quarter where Swans did run and carry from defence via multiple handball chains rather than a down the line bomb to 2-on-1 and they broke GWS defensive line easily. Only time I saw it all game and I think a telling stat was 0 scores from kickins for a good portion of the game.

Depends on how much he was responsible for list management.

Whoever was behind letting go Biggs, Nankervis and Membrey needs a good kicking. Could have done with those three last night.

First down patch since 2008 and you're all throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Relax. We'll get 10-15 games into the likes of Florent, Alliir, Mills, Heeney this season, and then have another pre-season and go again.

The cattle hasn't really been there at the start of this season, can't put that all on longmire. I don't care about the first 5 games any more, it's all about how we go from here. Work out a game style for 2018 that will win games (attack more) and start working on it.

Ross Lyon made some changes three backs and turned the season around. Does Longmire have it in him to make the changes?
I think that's the the best argument for changing the coach. We'll need to be adventurous, and long term coaches aren't always the ones to make the tough calls.

He has very little say. I've listed to many podcasts, read many articles Beatson and Harley have the most input when it comes to our list structure. Horse puts in his two cents but mainly works with what is given him

Has to go. The aliir decision was absolutely ridiculous. He has shown no ability to adapt over the years. far too one dimensional and to me it looks like he has lost the players

3 grand finals over 6 years would suggest a certain ability to adapt and evolve.

Signs are certainly worrying at the moment though.

Where has out game plan evolved? We complain about the same things after every game, win lose or draw. Bomb to forwards, bomb out of defence, poor skills, poor decision making etc...alot of other coaches in the league would have at least gotten us 4 points by now

you honestly think our gameplan didn't change at all over half a decade, while mastercoaches like Clarkson revolutionised the game each week, yet we continued to be very successful?

i think john was very fortunate he had a very talented team that covered up alot of holes for him.

Super sub seaby
Dropping aliir and newman show the bloke has NFI

But there was no contested footy, but there cant be with softcocks like Foote

softcocks like Foote? I'd like to see you take the hit that he did yesterday and get back up immediately. My guess is you'd be worse off than if it was Tippett who took the hit.

seriously, sledge the bloke if you must - but have a think about what your sledging him about.

He's made some mistakes, like any coach, but were you saying the same thing last year when we were top of the ladder? To say he has nfi is just plain stupid, he will turn it around.

I will sledge who I like, he's not up to it. Good to see the champ liked your post.

I feel like we're back where we were with Roos after '06.

Horse did get us to another grand final last year, in many ways against all odds, so I think saying he can't adapt is a bit simplistic. But in today's game you have to keep adapting.

Roos adapted very well in 09-10, I think. '08 was the only really uninspiring year, I feel.

To be fair 2016 was mostly due to our senior players having career best seasons rather than Longmire doing anything brilliant, of course he can coach but he intends to go defence when the team is in trouble rather than attack which is how the game is heading.
