The brand new monster metro station is essentially under the ground and entrances will be across the road.
Wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a main AFLW, VFL ground in time.
There's room next to the facilities that were left for this purpose.
Probably only need $3-4m for 2 sets of change rooms and public toilets/catering facilities etc, can be built on the current outdoor basketball court and the other set built near the old social club.
They may put in some seating and basic shade/undercover on the other side of the ground.
Something like that would probably only cost 500k.

The AFL put money into a club venue .... ha! In the words of Darryl Kerrigan "your dreamin". ☺ The AFL have never done North any favours, why would they start now?

Really think this could be the way of the future for the VFL.... once the AFL clubs are kicked out.
The way things are going, it would seem the Victorian AFL teams will have AFL, Reserves and Women's team's.
That means then the VFL should be come more of a state league, linked to the TAC Cup teams (as if the they are the senior clubs and tAC are the feeders).
I'd like to see something like this:
Box Hill - Eastern
Sandringham - Sandringham
Frankston - Dandenong
Werribee - Geelong
Coburg - Calder
Preston - Northern
Williamstown - Western
Port Melbourne - Oakleigh
North Ballarat - North Ballarat

Within 2-3 years, this is what will happen in Victoria. Mark my words.
AFL comp = 18 sides, incl 10 Victorian sides
AFL reserves comp = the 10 Vic sides
AFL under 19's comp (TAC Cup) = Essendon with Calder become Calder Bombers or Essendon Cannons etc..., Western Bulldogs with Jets, Geelong with Falcons, North Melb with GWV Rebels, Hawthorn with Ranges, Blues with Knights, Collingwood with Chargers, Richmond with Bushrangers, Melbourne with Pioneers and Power and St Kilda with Dragons.This is already happening as the AFL Next Generation Academy program.
How will this affect the draft?? It wont, players can and will be drafted to and from anywhere still, it's just a way of ensuring that AFL clubs are directly putting money into developing the talent pool. They may introduce a rule where each club can allocate 1 player from their TAC Cup alignment which can not be touched by another AFL team, but would need to nominate that player in July for example....thus meaning he'd effectively their first draftee for the following year.
The VFL standalone clubs Willy, Port, Coburg, Nth Ball, Werribee, Box Hill, Sandringham, Preston, Frankston/Peninsula and Casey either 1) fold, 2) fall back to local comps and continue or 3) create a new VFL competition of 10 teams, or a 14 team comp where AFL Vic would invite expressions of interest from dominant local/country football sides (financial and on field) EG: Albury, Vermont, Balwyn, Keilor, Deer Park, etc etc.... Dev League could be saved but only if AFL Vic commit to funding it and enforcing that each team has a reserves/dev league side. This new VFL comp would have no TAC Cup links, meaning players can join EG: Willy from Chargers....which currently incurs a transfer fee.

The VFL are keen on maintaining an interesting in around Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. With Frankston seemingly set to return to the VFL in 2018 (as North Ballarat may go), this match and one other (involving the travelling Werribee) is part of maintaining that interest.
As for crowds, it will give an opportunity for Essendon fans in the South-East to go along and there are many making the trip from elsewhere. Expect a crowd of about 1000.
Interesting venue this week.
Werribee are hosting Casey at......Hogans Road Reserve, Hoppers Crossing, the home of Hoppers Crossing in the WRFL.
Free entry for everyone.
Now living nearby, there's not a lot of parking - Hogans Road itself will have to host a fair percentage of the vehicles. Public transport to the venue is a challenge in itself, with just one bus stopping anywhere near the place. Hoppers might benefit from the canteen sales and the use of the club bistro and pokies.

SANFL average roughly 3000 & WAFL about 2000.

Really depends on the team but I'd say around 1,000, maybe a bit less.
Went to Hogans Road for the Werribee v Casey game today.
Ground surface is perfect. Hoppers in the WRFL would love that.
New pavilion up next to the old one with decent rooms for umpires and players alike.
Would have been 1300-1400 in attendance.

Council and North Ballarat Football Club at odds over night fixtures

The North Ballarat Football Club says it gave the City of Ballarat five months’ notice of its intention to stage a night Victorian Football League fixture this weekend, which has since been rescheduled.

The Roosters were originally set to take on Williamstown under lights at Eureka Stadium on Friday night, however the fixture was shifted to Saturday afternoon after the council told the club last week the facility, which is still under construction, was not fit for a night match.
In a statement the club said all VFL fixtures were completed prior to Christmas, however City of Ballarat director of community development Neville Ivey said council indicated to the club back in 2016 that night games should not be scheduled during the construction phase. “We made it clear to the club that scheduling any night games during the construction phase wouldn’t be wise,” Mr Ivey said. “Pretty much from day one when we said we were going to build a stadium we’ve shared that (night games) really shouldn’t be an option.” While four new light towers were installed around the main oval last year, further lighting will be fitted on the two stands to help visibility on the ground and negate the shadowing being cast by rooflines from new stands.
“We never stated we would be ready (to hold night fixtures) before construction was completed”. The confusion comes after the club indicated it would likely challenge the compensation offer of $5.5 million for the compulsory acquisition of the Eureka Stadium precinct. The offer was officially put to North Ballarat earlier this week after the council took control of the premises in late April.
While the compensation has been transferred to the North Ballarat’s solicitors and can be used, the club has three months in which to ask for further compensation. In a statement, North Ballarat chairman John Nevett said the club had independent valuers assessing the premises. In an open letter published in The Courier last week Mr Nevett said the club anticipated the final compensation sum would be far greater than the $5.5 million.
The club is currently occupying the premises under a grace period and is in the process of establishing a temporary lease, which will remain in place for three months, with the option of being extended to six months should the council not be able to finalise a lease in that time. Council maintain construction of the first stage of redevelopment is running on schedule and will be ready for the round 22 AFL clash between Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs.

Port Melbourne vs Box Hill was probably the best game of football I've seen live all year - including AFL games.

I take the kids to the WAFL quite often.
I rate some of those games over what I see in the AFL.
