Ok .... been around a long long time but just like reading and rarely post ... but.. and take this for what its worth.

Im in sales and a guy i call on played junior footy with Dylan Shiel ....

He said he caught up with him late last year and Shiel said he wants to play his last 5 or 6 years at Carlton.

Just what he said could be bullshit but thought id pass it on anyway...

P.S The only reason i joined this site was becuase of Harker a few years ago...you can check.... mate come back....**** em .... your opinion is just as relevant as anyone elses and i like your style....

Cheers

From the Scandals & Rumours board on the Front Page from user MAXROMANCE regarding Josh Schache.

I know a few guys that played with him at the Bushrangers and he can't get out Brisbane quick enough, hates it there, has massive beef with Tom Rockliff and a lot of the senior players. Can't see himself or Hipwood (a Queenslander) playing in the same forward line long term. Carlton have offered him big money to move home.

A poster on TC, who had the early mail on Marchbank, says expect the club to go after Adam Saad from GC. Apparently wants to come home and family are Carlton supporters and one of the reasons why the club did not trade Gibbs last year as we wanted a pick for this years trade period.

We'll wear a light grey clash jumper next season with a navy CFC which was requested by the players who didn't want white or the baby blue. The colour will be very similar to the grey stripes in the current clash jumper but solid all over.
I'm not sure about the shorts & socks but I image they'll be the same with the socks maybe having navy blue up the top.

Okay, I just got back from spending a week in Melbourne (most of it was in Ballarat actually, the Record Fair on Sunday was a major success) and was able to speak with some old colleagues & contacts about footy. There was a fair bit thrown around and not only Carlton stuff but here is what I can best recall (I didn't take notes) :

1. The next captain of the Carlton Football Club may not be an obvious choice right now but it should surprise when it does happen. A number of the new players to the club have been identified as serious leaders and Bolton is going to groom/develop most of them to be outstanding role models to the next wave of players that come in behind them. Marc Murphy will be the captain for as long as his body stays fit and he has the desire to do the job, it is expected that he will play for another 3-4 years (cannot afford another head-high hit or two, no-one can really) but he may handover the captaincy to his successor in his final season to assist with a smooth transition. Most people will be thinking Cripps or Weitering but they weren't at the top of the list apparently, the belief is that they don't need to be captain to have an impact.

2. We are not in the business of trading first round picks, especially future ones, anytime in the foreseeable future. This approach may change once the rejuvenation of the list has been completed but for now, SOS wants as many first round picks as he can get his hands on and as often as possible.

3. The big Free Agent target could be Tom Lynch from the Gold Coast but it won't be until the end of 2018 season when he becomes a RFA. The offer will be for 5-years in the mid-million per annum region but it will be heavily front-loaded so he gets something like $2.5mill in his first season to change clubs.

4. Bolton has been told that he has full control of team selections in the second half of the season and that he is encouraged to play all or none of the fringe players at the club in the seniors whenever he believes it is the right time to do so. For the rebuild to move on in earnest, they need to assess who should stay and who should go at the end of this season so onfield results may be compromised by doing so. However, the administration are fully supportive of this approach and will deflect any criticism that comes his way and the board know that it is something that has to be done, they trust that the supporters will understand the rationale as well.

5. Prior to his injury, Liam Jones was definitely going to be given a chance to show his new found skills in defence at senior level (even with Rowe in the team) and certainly will once he recovers. If he does anything/something, he will be given a one-year extension but on the understanding that there will be no more without some concerted onfield efforts in 2018. If he doesn't impress to an acceptable level in the seniors this year, he will be delisted.

6. Dale Thomas will not be on the senior list in 2018 but he should be on the NB's list as captain or in a leadership role. His salary will be significantly reduced from what he is on this year but he will still be the highest paid player in the VFL.

7. Levi Casboult will not be at the club in 2018, he will be chasing a bigger pay packet and contract security via the FA system based on the recent improvement in his goal-kicking.

8. We will be hitting the draft hard again this year and next (no real surprises there) and the expectation is that we will have the same level of success as we have had in the first two years. Quality disposal skills are still the priority followed by the quality of the person, there will be no speculative selections, they either measure up or they don't.

9. We won't be bringing in more older players from other clubs unless they are really good short-term options in the Matty Wright mould, the emphasis & focus is on youth and youth only.

10. We will be turning over 10-12 more players at the end of this season (delistings, trades & retirements etc), there will be a further 6-8 changes at the end of 2018 by which time 90% of our list will be players under the age of 24-25yo.

11. Bryce Gibbs will be traded at the end of this year, the offer of a first round pick plus something else (2nd rounder or a young player) will be far too important to the end goal to knock back.

12. Matty Kreuzer has had significant interest from other clubs and the Blues don't want to see him go but are working to a prescribed pay structure for everyone and therefore cannot nor will not match any extravagant offers. Kreuzer is quite torn at present as he is a loyal and honest chap but he may not be able to keep knocking back such big numbers.

There you have it and as I have been told in the past, things do change so "don't shoot the messenger".
