They are playing some great, but inconsistent, footy. They aren't a contender. They are definitely top 8 material.

None of Freo, West Coast, St Kilda, or Melbourne look like they want to play finals so there is definitely spots on (GWS, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Port, Richmond look very likely to play finals, the first 3 look like the main contenders), so probably 2 available spots for 7 clubs (add Sydney & Collingwood as teams that could make it with a big 2nd half of the season).

At this point you may as well pick the teams that will finish 4-8 out of a hat.

It's a very open season & they are certainly in the mix.

We're just inconsistent, when we're on we are on but just lack linking four quarters together. Hopefully we can build on this and get better while the season goes on.

Who knows what the hell could happen this season but Essendon are playing some entertaining football. Freo are cooked so there is at least one spot up for grabs for the teams out of the 8.

Whether or not they make it they're a great team to watch, fast in transition and great ball movement. That first half tonight was some of the best footy I've seen this year.

**** who knows.......i'm just enjoying how basically all but BL (but they did FRE today) and CAR can actually get up and possibly beat anyone on their day. the AFL has NEVER been like this. EVER!

This is actually very true. We've already seen it multiple times this season. The loss to Carlton after 2 good wins and Carlton looking nowhere near it in their first couple, the loss to Richmond (after beating Geelong and West Coast and Richmond on a losing streak). On the flip side the wins against Geelong was very unexpected and even West Coast was an upset at the time. Hawks were an upset at the time but I think we now realise they are just not anything close to what they were.

Halved their matches in the first half of the season, second half on paper looks a lot easier, big chance for top 8.

I think they have a great balanced list with plenty of firepower and the best coach they've had since Knights. Every chance to make the 8 and even a top 4 possibility is open.
