Have massive hopes for McKay, get the feeling Bolton has definitely been holding him back, but when he does finally get his chance, we could be in for some real fun up forward, that kid is a beast.

Yep, I think we're all doing our best to be patient with Harry. Must be time soon.

Really glad GWS didn't pull the trigger on the Tomlinson trade, he is an ok player, but we offered them pick 12, which ended up being Charlie Curnow and he has a way higher selling, wouldn't have been a disastrous trade as Tomlinson would most likely be best 22, but certainly would swap Charlie for Tomlinson.
IIRC it didn't look like Charlie would have been available at pick 12 at the time of the potential trade, drink driving stuff made him slide slightly very close to draft day.
Couple of points (excuse the soon-to-be pun):

1. GWS would only have used any pick for points, so the two later picks would have been worth more to them, which makes me think this rumour was bogus, or whoever passed it on was confused about the exact nature of the timeline of events. I'd suggest we may have offered GWS the two picks in a deal for Tomlinson and others, and then shuffled them onto the Dogs when that wasn't happening.

2. A quick look at the draft order suggests if SOS knew about GCS' leanings, they would have seen value in having this pick as a cheap opportunity to get stuck into the non-academy top 10. Hindsight suggests this was the right call to make.

Kreuzer won't leave for more money
He hasn't in the past..

Sure they can sit him down and tell him to leave.. Will they do that?

Or maybe not offer him more than the one year with another club coming in to offer him four

Will they?
At some point I imagine Kreuzer will say: 'I need to do what's best for me and earn as much as I can in the 3-4 years I have left in the game.' Hopefully he can achieve that at Carlton.

A two steps forward, one step backwards isn't going to hurt the rebuild, it should be expected that its not all full steam ahead, there will be peaks and troughs.
I thought 2017 was going to be our year of going backwards, but happy the club has proved me wrong !

I think another pre-season into SPS, Fisher, Macreadie, Cuningham, Jack, Weiters, Harry, Pickett, Willa, Charlie and others will lead to natural improvement in 2018.

There are some challenging list management issues at the end of the season IMO ... getting value if Gibbs leaves ... what to do if Casboult leaves ... finding class midfielders with the first round pick and no second round pick currently ... how many do we keep in 2018 out of Gorringe, Boekhorst, Jaksch, Buckley, Graham, Lamb, Sumner and Rowe? (White and Armfield likely to retire, while Kerridge and Palmer have another year) ... calls on rookie players ...

Murphy looks abit jaded to me
He would relish an opportunity elsewhere and have a crack without the pressures of his history with us
On the other hand I think we need to look forward to a total rebuild and get away from our last fifteen years

Win win if handled correctly
Murphy having an outstanding season.

Not sure I agree he 'looks jaded'.

If there is a Wayne Schwass / Shannon Grant deal out there for us and Murphy wanted to go, then I would not begrudge him, but I would not be pushing him if he wasn't already thinking about going.

Would hate to lose Humfrey after he comes good, but I just wonder if this might tempt GWS and work in our favour long term.

Blues get band 1 compensation for Kruezar who goes to GWS as a RFA which ends up being pick 3.

Blues trade pick 3 + future 2nd round pick to GWS for Josh Kelly & Jacob Hopper.

GWS would need to structure the Kruezar deal to ensure that we get band 1 compo, we might need to take another salary dump player so they can fit it in.. But then we would end up with an A grade mid & a potential A grade mid to add to Cripps, Murphy, Gibbs, SPS, Cunners..
Bulldogs most likely if Kreuzer was to leave IMO. Hawthorn need a ruck too but cannot see Kreuzer going there.

Tomlinson was a forward who was behind Cameron, Patton, McCarthy and Boyd. Has become a solid defender.
I was hoping to have him in our forward line.
Remember Gold Coast were enquiring about Everritt too ...

murphy has polled coaches votes in 9 out of 11 games in a season where we have won 4 out of 11 games. jaded? hate to see him have a good year.

The club is as united as it's ever been. Players out of contract will want to come to our club. Huge credit to SOS and Bolts for turning around the culture. Listen to this week's podcast awesome insights about players parents being invited for pie nights and staff getting the opportunity to train with players.
It feels good being a Carlton supporter now. Dawn of a new era awaits.

Can recall SOS saying that a very good pick was tabled for Tomlinson and refused, in my mind of always just assumed he was talking about the Curnow pick and maybe due to GWS already having enough points is why they refused the trade.

Can't imagine there'd be too many players lining up to go to Hawthorn now.
They'll be spending some time at the bottom of the ladder for a while now.
