you just loook at their teamsheet and it tells you.

very easy.

Appears they only had 2 newbies, one from Mt Gravatt and one from Victoria who is probably mates with the coach.

I hear you toss pot but if you click on individuals there were 5 players with no previous games records at Cooly or in competition, that was what I was meaning.

But I forgot you know everything.

Yes you can. Permits are allowed until the final H&A round

Stand corrected then Thommo if indeed true but surely, surely in a year where relegation/promotion is at stake then the rules might change.. Certainly the blokes being played on permit would want to have their credentials looked at very carefully. Even for finals stuff I think its dumb that a team who must win the last game comes up against a side that has parachuted a superstar from somewhere else into their group - permits should only be allowed in special cases and tbh I think it is only if you are so short on numbers that the match may be forfeited

Not much you can do about temp interstate clearances pre June 30.

However, given the memo we all got last week, Stubbs playing (former junior or not) really did need permission from the competition manager. ( which they may have got, none of us would know)

Reckon opposition should be told too.

My view on permits is pretty simple. They should be used if you're short on numbers or if by chance a former player is in town and wants a kick with his old club (ie. Is playing in Cairns or something, but is in Brisbane for the weekend and wants a game)

If you are playing a bloke on permit because you are short, he should play ressies regardless of how good he is.

If you permit in a guy and play him in seniors, clearly you are trying to artificially improve your team not just make up numbers.

Just my opinion of course.

Spot on. Agree. Should play 2nds only. And strict conditions.

There was one individual at Park Ridge in the stands yesterday that made it almost unbearable to watch the football. I pity anyone that has to sit there week in week out and listen to that fog horn yell out cliche after cliche.

I think I know who you are referring to, he actually makes it enjoyable to sit and watch. Maybe look into another type sport more suitable maybe chess or mahjong?

I bet you know who he is. Anyone within 100 metres would know. We will have to agree to disagree i guess. I'd rather headbutt a nail then sit and listen to that guy yell absolute uneducated rubbish all day at a game of football..

At the very least i'd head to the other side of the ground or bring some ear plugs!

Agreed. Though there would be occasional exceptions (e.g. we played Kedron for the Vass Memorial Cup last week, and they had Freaka's son Gary on permit from Grange for the day, which was a nice touch).

Surprised there's been no chat on here about Darryl White suiting up for Alex Hills this season (or did I just miss it?). Bloke can still take a grab at 44 years of age. Looks to be on one leg though...

Watched the Bears vs Roos on Saturday in an extremely entertaining game, with the Roos just holding them out.

Really see-sawing game, Roos would kick ahead, then the Bears would peg 2 or 3 back and it would be on. Roos would then break the stalemate and, Bears would fight back - but apart from the half-time break, just couldn't nudge ahead.

Congrats to whoever the Robina coach is for one of the greatest half time bakes I've heard in years as well - it was superb stuff. Heard in both dressing rooms and the bar as well!

Believe that would be the Suns coach from last year Simon Fenton.
Been from Coomera and watching them play Roos then bears last 2 weeks would've thought the Bears woulda got the job done. Surprised it wasn't the Bears coach giving a spray!

David 'Plugger'Sloan was the suns coach last season a great coach with a proven history in success and a great guy. Fenton may have been an assistant at the suns as there were 3 or 4 assistant coaches in charge of certain areas

I think the old man is playing on one leg for sure but I'm sure the experience and knowledge he would have would be good for the Alex hill boys

So was it the content of the bake or the loudness of the bake that made it "superb "? Or a bit of both ?

Content and ferocity in equal measure. also the fact that the kenmore boys were all talking about it when they came out for the 2nd half instead of focussing on their own game.

The bake worked too, as they banged on a few quick ones when they came out for the 3rd quarter and were never headed again.

Quality spray, though being honest I didn't understand all of it! (due to the ferocity with which it was delivered)

Buffs v Pirates match of the round, will have passion. Prepare to hear from the Commish and Bocker on here in coming days
