I have no doubt Hawthorn will do everything in their powers to keep the 1 lowly pick they have this year. Doubt they would even contemplate such an IOU. They might consider offering their 3 rounder but even that I highly doubt, since it will be in the mid 30's.

Sorry Carlton, no deal!

Wright seems a very reasonable guy. Doubt he'd screw us over. The question of how they could help us is valid though.

Given EP brought it up, and MS3 mentioned SOS working on getting Kelly without giving up two 1st rounders, I think there's something to it.

I see SOS modelling his negotiation on Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills.
You think because we are tolerant, we are weak.Y our arrogance offends me . For that the price just went up 10%

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have many draft picks. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let Hopper go, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you (at the trade table).

The Hawks will probably claim we got the better end of the deal as it turned out and not repay any favour. They seem like they sold their soul in last years trade period.

Asked some GWS people if they would trade Josh Kelly to us for
2017 1st rounder pick 1-4 plus a 2018 2nd rounder pick 20-25, most seem to think that would be acceptable.
Although some are suggesting our 2017 1st rounder and our 2018 1st rounder, with GWS first coming back, I'd much prefer the first option.

Players 23 and under

Andrew Gallucci (23)
Blaine Boekhorst (23)
Caleb Marchbank (20)
Cameron Polson (19)
Charlie Curnow (20)
Ciaran Byrne (22)
David Cunningham (20)
Harrison Mceadie (19)
Harry Mckay (19)
Jack Silvagni (19)
Jacob Weitering (19)
Jarrod Pickett (20)
Jesse Glass-Mccasker (20)
Kym Lebois (19)
Lachie Plowman (22)
Liam Sumner (23)
Nick Graham (23)
Pat Kerr (18)
Patrick Cripps (22)
Sam Docherty (23)
Sam Petrevski-Seton (19)
Tom Williamson (18)
Zac Fisher (19)

That's 23 players absolutely amazing!
Impressive list of young players.

Now apart from Doc and Crippa, we need to see some of these guys start to feature in the best 6 or so players each week.

Graham IMO has Boekhorst and Sumner covered on hardness, delivery inside 50 and also that he can play as a midfielder. Has kept working in the VFL.

Boekhorst is quick and did some ok things against Suns.

Sumner simply has to get more Senior games but showed a bit at times in the GWS match.

For mine, graham has proven he is not good enough. If it wasn't for a poor Carlton list he would have been delisted last year.

I'm a fan of sumners. Makes good decisions, has good skills. Just isn't fit enough or getting enough of the ball. Makes more of an impact at afl level with his disposals than graham.

Huge news today with the cba going up 20% from today.

Since it's starting as early as next year, i wonder what affect it will have on trades.

Will be interesting to see if some clubs basically just pay everyone a bit more to keep it even, or some like North prepared to use that extra few million in space to just land 2 guns for 1 million each.

I think there are at least 7 before Graham:
Gorringe, Buckley, Jaksch, Sumner, Armfield, White and Boekhorst ...
Graham just turned 23 and was reasonably good in his run of senior matches this year. Hasn't dropped his bundle playing VFL before or after.

It's not about being dependent on Graham. It's about purposefully improving our list by replacing our lowest rated players with better or more likely players. Where we have a lot of kids, we need some experienced players to cover for injuries, etc.

As I understand it, we are stuck with Kerridge, Palmer and Smedts for another year. But, if we have a run of injuries to one or more of Cripps, Gibbs, Murphy, Ed, SPS, Fisher and Charlie, I would prefer Graham in midfield ahead of Kerridge, Palmer and Smedts, as well as ahead of Thomas, Wright, Sumner, Lamb and Boekhorst ... (and assuming Polson and Pickett are to develop more).

Yes there are quite a few for the chop before him but I think come the beginning of next year we will be in a stronger position with our midfield.
I didn't mean we were depending on Graham I just think there are, and will be players that will perform at least to the standard that he provides that have development in them and need to be played.

You can't keep players on your list forever that are not capable of sustaining an acceptable AFL standard. We have been guilty of this in the past. I know there are others that are contracted but they to will get the chop soon enough. These blokes will be moved on when the stars (contracts) align. I just trust SOS 100%.

If Graham is still there for next season good luck to him, I'll just have to suck it up!

Carlton presented to Dusty Martins entourage yesterday. IF Gibbs left they would demand 2 1st rounders again and would use these picks to chase Josh Kelly. If Gibbs stays, they wont chase Kelly.
Gotta say if this is on the cards, then don't let the door hit you on the way out Bryce.

PS. Do you mean Kelly's Entourage? Your post doesn't read well

Martin has an entourage?

Wouldn't think we'd be honed in on Martin.
Due diligence and all that, but maybe not primary priority.

Gibbs/Kelly sounds what we'd be after, but maybe not how things would pan out.

Need to push up his value to force Dickmond to match

I know he's not a favourite on here but I would have Boekhorst in front of Graham, Nick held on by the hair of a bee's **** last off season. There are some in front of him but he will only really remain if SOS can't find enough AFL quality replacements.
I think we won't cut too deeply this year on the basis the draft is reportedly not that deep this year and SOS has the one first round pick and then a third and later round picks. So I doubt we will take 5 or 6 draftees as we did in 2015 and 2016 (not counting any rookie upgrades), probably just 4.
The variables as I see it are if one or both Gibbs and Casboult leave, who we get in trading (Hopper, etc.), and if there is a delisted free agent that can add to our team like Matty Wright.

Cheers for the info.

I think he did reasonably well in his few games playing midfield and high half forward.
If we are cutting and our midfield does not bat deep while the kids are developing, I think Graham is a far better option than Sumner, Boekhorst and others as a midfield back up. Was getting 18-20 possessions in Seniors and contributing while not in starting midfield, getting 30+ in VFL. He is only just 23 and Malthouse did nada to develop him.
Sumner is more a forward who can play midfield minutes IMO and is rather injury prone. Would like to see him get a run at it.

You definitely do your best work after midnight Mr Stiffler.
