Nice initiative.

There is talk of the girls academy expanding. If so what form would this expansion take and what age would you be looking to identify talent?
We are in ongoing discussions with the AFL & AFLQ about what our girls Academy program will look like going forward, and as soon as we know the outcome we will definitely be promoting this. Stay tuned!

Are there any plans for a return of the Lions official podcast? It could be a good time to bring it back for the back half of the season with the ever charismatic Mitch Robbo out for the year! There is a good fan/Bigfooty podcast but it is not the same as club content. Worth adding that I was hoping to keep J Paine at the club partly for morale but also partly just for his podcast game!

On a related note I really enjoy audio only content (great while driving or washing up if you don't have much time for videos) and I appreciate the updates to Audioboom when they come through, it's great to hear the players and officials talk to different media outlets with a range of topics and tones.

Thanks for making this engagement effort overall Lions, good to see.
We're in the process of organising something following the season, going into next year with a few key footy people. Mitch Robinson and Jackson Paine were great however they've both busy with other commitments this time around.

And thanks for the feedback re audio - we're looking to post as much as our audio content going forward.

Would be a nice idea (not sure how practical ) if the club played a pre season intra club game in Melbourne. Gets the players away from the Brisbane humidity and although it can be very hot in Melbourne during summer if you start the game at say 5.30pm and play for two hours it should be cooler. Sun will still be out at 7.30pm. BBQ after game for all the Lions based Melbourne fans for a meet and greet with players and officials. Could even try to get the game played at Fitzroys old ground Brunswick street oval in Fitzroy? Be perfect on say a Friday arvo so those who work in the city can drop in after work. The players would also then have the weekend to themselves.
Great idea, and something that's been talked about in previous years. I'll mention it again however it does come down to scheduling and costs.

Lions Insider - in the "Some thoughts on how the Lions got terrible, and how they could stop being terrible" thread, it was stated that it was rare to see people in Lion's clothing around Brisbane these days. It got me thinking that I should make an effort to wear more often -especially if I am on public transport. It has been a conversation starter and I am always happy to speak about football.

Here is my crazy idea: encourage everyone wear Lions stuff the next Monday after our next win.
Love it, always encourage fans to wear the maroon, blue & gold win, lose or draw!

Lions insider- Can I ask that you pass on our thanks to the boys for walking the fence after the game, it was great for my kids to be able to shake hands with some players and also a chance for us older supporters to pass on our messages of support for the players. It was also great to see a few not playing walking around the stadium and engaging with fans. We might be Brisbane, but we are a community club. Thanks!
Will pass it on!

Will do! We are All For One ;)

Any chance of a more reasonably priced Victorian membership? Currently it is cheaper for me to pay at the gate than buy a membership. When I contacted the club previously I was told it is because you get access to games at the GABBA, but lets be honest 99.9% of Victorian members won't ever get to attend a GABBA game.

The Lions have to pay the home team for each game on the Victorian membership though right?. If the membership was the same price as the GA gate prices the club wouldn't make anything at all. I reckon the margins on the Victorian memberships would be pretty small as is.

Do we have any creatives here? Specifically good at drawing caricatures? We're in search of a specific caricature for an upcoming banner and we'd love a fan to have the opportunity to create this. If you yourself, or know of anyone keen, let us know!

Not drawing related, but I'd love to contribute to what's written on the banners each week that the team run through.

Yep, that's next up for us... We're going to open a thread for banner suggestions shortly. Would love your input!
No Danny McGinlay types about? Bulldogs banner is consistently good and I think part of that is the dedicated writer with a TV and comedy background. I would prefer to avoid the 'Nek minnit' moments.

Hi Lions_Insider , I'm someone who loves watching the reserves streams, but find it disappointing so few games get streamed. I understand cost wise it may not be something the club can afford, but is something like putting replays up on youtube an option that could be done for games not streamed?

Are there any plans for the Lions to wear a Fitzroy inspired jumper in Melbourne this year and/or a Bears inspired jumper in Brisbane this year?

Don't think so, unless you count the clash or away strips.

Next year is a Lions Hall of Fame induction year so a heritage strip will get a run again.

Edit: whoops didn't realise this was the LI thread. Sorry to cut in.

Hi Lions_Insider, younger brother was playing at the QISSRL Confraternity tournament down at Banyo last week and went to go watch some of his matches. Walked past the ACU medical tents that was set up and couldn't help but noticing on the three days I went, there was always at least one person there wearing the Hyundai Help for Kids Lions jacket. Was just wondering whether this was just pure coincidence or whether they were youngsters climbing through the ranks to become physios at the club?

Lions_Insider its great that the club sends members an email if they don't attend a game getting feedback on why.

It gave my wife a chance to mention something that had bothered her for a while. That is the poor parents facilities at the Gabba. I appreciate that the club has limited scope to do much about the Gabba but as a major tenant, I think they could do more to advocate for a better deal on this.

Firstly, the changing facilities are extremely limited and, well, kinda gross. We sit in section 67 and To change our 18 month old me or my wife has to carry him the distance to the stairs, carry him downstairs (a bit dangerous, especially when wet) and then use the "parents room" near gate 9 which is nothing more than basically a smelly disabled toilet with a flimsy fold down plastic change table. There is a chair in there if you need to sit and settle your child but gross, who would want to, let alone breast feed.

There is also usually a queue for these limited facilities too, so you're basically committed to miss about 15 minutes of the game at least.

We can do the 2 minute dash to the members bar to get a beer and miss nothing due to the TV screens everywhere but if you need to go change, settle or feed your kid, tough bikkies it seems.

My wife has emailed the club in the past to find out who to talk to about it but has received no real response. She has also tried to reach out to the Women of the Pride to see if they can advocate for a better deal. You'd think this would be right in their sphere of interest but seemingly not. More interested in networking, exchanging business cards and expanding their LinkedIn profiles perhaps?

The long and the short of it is that we pay 1000 dollars a year for premium September memberships. Obviously night games are out and that's a reasonable sacrifice for us to make. Parents can't have it all. But even for the day and Twilight games now one of us has stayed home because the facilities and resulting experience are just terrible if you have a small kid. It's sad because the Lion Park stuff beforehand is fantastic for them but all bets are off once you go through the turnstiles. It really doesn't have to be that way.

Of all the various spaces around, is there nowhere that could be allocated as a "parent lounge"? Would only need a few comfy seats, some toys and a TV screen showing the game. Just need a nearby usher to ensure people are using it for the intended purpose.

We're basically making a $500 a year donation to the club at this point in unused seats. Does that buy us a courtesy response at least? The AFL talks a big game about embracing women but it's not always backed up.

Can absolutely concur with this. The parents facilities as the gabba are an absolute joke. We spent the whole 4th quarter the other week waiting for a chance to change our 16 month old son in the disabled toilets as the one near us was being renovated, which meant a walk halfway round the ground. Some sort of facilities in one of the many empty corporate areas would be an absolute godsend for parents with kids. Maybe one on either side of the ground as not being able to walk past the gabba members area makes getting across to areas such as the social club a big task.

Sorry to intrude by I know somebody who is exceptional in this field. What did you specifically have in mind and I can either ask or forward you on his details.

He may not be accomodating but I could ask.

Here's a glimpse of his work.

Using this pic as a point of reference only, but why do our jumpers have a Lions watermark throughout them? Is it insisted on by the club or manufacturers? Most people I know, including myself, really don't like it.

Are there any plans for any events/functions when you come to WA in a few weeks?

I appreciate it is a small supporter base over here but a loyal one nonetheless

As a guess it is harder to make cheap imitations and undersell us.
