BUSHLAND and sections of the Yarra River in Melbourne’s northeast have been searched in the long-running hunt for a troubled man wanted over the shopping centre killing of his brother.
The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal police last Monday descended on parts of Ivanhoe East as they seek 39-year-old Jonathan Dick.
In a fresh appeal for information, detectives warned he could be armed and still living on the streets.
Jonathan is a person of interest in the murder of younger sibling David Dick, 36, who was fatally wounded at the Westfield Doncaster complex five months ago.
Victoria Police spokesman Acting Sgt Alistair Parsons said a search was conducted in bushland surrounding Chelsworth Park, Wilson Reserve and the Yarra River.

The area is close to a residential street opposite Ivanhoe Park cricket ground where Jonathan’s car was dumped soon after David’s murder.
Photos taken by the Sunday Herald Sun showed SES workers probing areas of thick bush with sticks during last week’s search.
Acting Sgt Parsons said: “This operation involves members from the Fugitive Task Force, Search and Rescue Squad, Dog Squad and Operations Response Unit.”
“Jonathan Dick is possibly still armed with a knife and should not be approached by members of the public,’’ Acting Sgt Parsons said.
“He is described as a loner and is believed to be adept at living on the streets with little or no money.”
Police did not reveal what they were looking for nor whether any items of interest were found.
But they confirmed an earlier search of Jonathan’s Seymour home uncovered his mobile phone and banking cards inside.
David — a carpenter and popular suburban cricketer — was viciously attacked in the Westfield Doncaster carpark early on February 3.
The last confirmed sighting of Jonathan was at about 7am the same day.
CCTV captured him walking south on Wamba Rd in Ivanhoe East having dumped his 1997 blue Ford Fairmont registration ONV 954 with a sword inside.
Security footage from Westfield earlier showed a man — later suspected to be Jonathan — carrying what is thought to be the same weapon.
Weeks before the brutal attack Jonathan, a plasterer, withdrew $100 from a bank branch in Melbourne’s northern suburbs which he often frequented through his work.
It was initially suspected he fled to NSW where family live or to Queensland which he regularly visited until his father’s last year.

The Sunday Herald Sun has previously revealed a witness reported speaking to a man who looked like Jonathan on Glanfield St in Northcote on March 1.
The sighting was investigated but couldn’t be confirmed.
Jonathan’s mother Carol Cloke in a heartbreaking statement earlier this yearsaid she and youngest child Simon were desperate to know Jonathan, who has mental health issues, was safe.
Jonathan is caucasian, about 180cm, 88kg and of solid build with short dark greying hair.
His facial hair may have changed since earlier this year.
He has a “Wolverine vs. sabre-tooth tiger” tattoo on his right thigh extending to his knee and is believed to have another tattoo on one of his calves.

If he's living rough, he still must be feeding himself somehow. Access to cash? Begging? I'm not sure the parks of East Ivanhoe would contain much edible food. I wonder if there have been many petty burglaries recently in the area?

That's it, surely by now someone would have seen him and the cops would have caught him.
Has the family spoken to him, at all? I recall them saying he was taking medication, as well?
The thing about homeless people is most people look the other way when crossing their path. Would you recognise him if you walked by him on the street?

He was last seen at Ivanhoe East about 7am on February 3, shortly after his brother’s death, as he abandoned a 1997 blue Ford Fairmont sedan.
