I'm a big fan of Devin Townsend but I don't think I can go past Blackmore and Iommi. As for Australian guitarists, Joe Haley of Psycroptic would have to be my favourite.

Blackmore or Iommi? I go with Blackmore - both wrote huge riffs but Blackmore's influence on soloing has him ahead.
