When we tanked against Port he was best on ground.

I just find it irritating that the guy has clearly IMO got better as he's continued to develop and is now reaching an age where he can compete yet is dropped due to inconsistent performances in an inconsistent developing team.
He's a 23 year old rookie listed 200cm forward.
If he was doing nothing at WAFL level then fair enough but he continues to rack up good numbers.
McGovern was on the rookie list for 3 years before being promoted and people just think he was drafted and dominated from day 1.

He had a good quality game against Adelaide last year. Not so much in scoring goals but earning his possessions.
Only going by what I heard on the radio coverage yesterday, as well as kicking 5 - Taberner also gave a couple away - unfortunately to the opposition. One a ruck infringement to Giles and the 2nd a 50m penalty which bought the scores back to 12 pts in the 3rd quarter. The previous week against West Perth 4 of his 6 goals came in the last quarter.
Barlow was best on ground in that game by a country mile. Grey was exceptional in a lock down role. Hughes was also awesome on debut. Tanner Smith played a cracker. Sheridan and Duffield played good games also. Don't think Tabs was BOG but agree he did play a solid game in a losing side that game.
I just hope whenever he comes back in to the side that he can string together a run of strong performances like he has at WAFL. We don't need him to be BOG (or close to it) in one game every so often, we need him to play as a solid role-playing key forward every AFL game he plays. Can guarantee all AFL coaches are looking for consistent performers over blue moon stars in their B22.
The rhetoric that Ross hates him is ridiculous. Improve his consistency and he will secure his spot in the B22. There are also clearly some KPIs (other than goals and contested marks) he isn't quite hitting yet. I personally found Ross' comments quite positive about Tabs - thinking we'll give him more time now (ie a contract extension) which I wasn't sure of before.

Ross taught Chris Mayne that tackles are more important than goals, so maybe that's it.
That's probably also why Ross Lyon coached teams can't ever score.
Yep Ross definitely has a defence first mentality. But haven't all the premiership coaches of recent times been defence first also?
Not saying our coaches (not just Ross) don't need to improve the way we operate in the forward half considerably (better structures, movement, delivery etc) but I think the most attacking coach in the world would struggle to have our forward line, with the current personnel (including those available and not in the B22) kicking decent scores on a regular basis.
We weren't dominating against Essendon this year...in fact, we were behind the whole first half. Tabs kicked 2 first half goals out of a total of 5 for us to half time....
He kicked 4 goals in the losing Peel side in round 4 as well as taking 10 marks.
He kicked 3 goals and had 25 disposals in a big loss against WP in round 5.

I believe Tabular has been sent back to Peel and told you will not play again until you consistently dominate at Peel level.Hopefully he is getting close to another game.

And then decided to kick it somewhere else altogether. But he wasn't alone. Agree with your Ins. But I'd drop Subes as we won't drop Spurr and we need Deluca in as he gives us another inside mid rotation (as Balic and Bennell aren't ready yet).
We have not played Taberner with one of either McCarthy or Kersten this year and it is probably time to do that but I suspect RTB will leave it another week.
MCarthy will play WAFL to get some form and Tabs probably will as well. Still think the extra height of Tabs could straighten us up but we look to tall if Tabs, McCarthy and Kersten all play - although the delivery is still probably a bigger issue.
Sounds like Sutcliffe is in the good books again but I would prefer Deluca.

I've read most of the posts and all of the postings on Taberner , Mccarthy and Kerstan . Well listen up folks here is some information on where a couple of those players are at .
Taberner got the biggest roast from Roger H at half time during the Peel East Perth game that lasted for 5 minutes and could be heard 2 blocks away . The main points that got Roger and the coaches raised were that for a big guy "get that head over the ball ,Get that body of yours into the contest and use some intestinal fortitude in the contests . Stop floating around contests waiting for your team mates to do the hard work. At least after half time Taberner started to work his way into the contest ,hence he then got into the game and had an impact .
Cam McCarthy was very sore and was in full recovery mode after each game from game 3 of the season which is very understandable after being out of the game for over a year without any serious training . At GWS he was the 4th tall and we have been playing his as the first tall .Kerstan is another player who has only played as the 3rd tall and has had limited exposure a key forward . He has to be given time to develop he game but to be honest he will need some serious coaching to be an AFL quality key forward . The blame for our forward line is with our recruiters from years gone by .
The boy that could be the answer when the Club stops playing him as the only tall in the Peel reserves as a ruckman only is Stnadica . He must be played in the Peel league team as a specialist forward with occasional runs in the ruck .

Probably true but our defensive pressure out of the forward half has been pretty ordinary all year. Chris Mayne was more important to this than I realised but still happy that his move to Collingwood was able to get us Brad Hill in spite of his kicking yesterday. Wonder if he had a jab for something in his foot or ankle as he didn't train during the week too much?

Mayne can't get a game for the team ranked 14th this year. If he was still at Freo he'd be one of the first picked. Dodged a massive bullet getting rid of him.

Interesting short interview with Taberner here where he says that his focus at the moment is not on kicking goals but on his ruckwork - might be a clue why they are taking so long to bring him back in. Surely he'd be better in the ruck than Brennan Cox though?

I see that some are looking to bump Logue back to the WAFL, reckon he is slowly taking baby steps forward. Seems to be showing more confidence each week.
Kersten frustrates me, someone needs to ruffle up his hair, and he doesn't seem to get a sweat up !!!!!.

His left hand handball to Ballas was a thing of beauty BUT why the hell didn't he just take the mark play on and have a shot from 50m? I mean he didn't need to break stride.
It also highlighted where Ballas is at. Fumbled the pinpoint pass, couldn't zig or zag clear, slipped over and to be honest should've been done for HTB... against Schofield!
