What's everyone's thought on the current 6-6-6 fixturing. Obviously it was brought in to try and keep the ladder closer when they was quite a gap between the good and bad sides.

The league seems to really be evening up, Brissy and Carlton will be stronger next year bringing them closer to the pack.

Is now the time to switch to a rolling draw that spans over the seasons? Simply play every team home then next time it's away.

I think it's fine. It has the potential to create massive swings from year to year in terms of fixture strength but, as you say, an even comp somewhat removes that problem.

I think all other options are at least as bad if not worse (17 then 5 is just atrocious) and wouldn't want to lose footy, 2 derbies or other potential double headers by just dropping to 17 rounds.

Anyone else think this is somewhat concerning?

So he gets knocked out cold Saturday night, comes to and clearly has no idea what's going on, looked completely out of it, thought the trainer was Bernie Vince....... Nah we reckon he'll be good for Friday.

A six day break.

While McCartin and Brayshaw they both seem to be given plenty of time off to recover I wonder if a non-footballing doctor would be giving them the all clear to keep playing after receiving multiple concussions (5+) over a two year period. Does the AFL have any say in how the players are managed or is it all on the clubs.

I know I'm an old fuddy duddy ( regularly told every day !!! ), but I still think that if you are replaced due to concussion during a game, you have next week off. No debate, you are having the week off !!!.

Remember listening to David Parkin comments on concussion. He went down many times, played the next week and ultimately was shite.

Dunno about being an old fuddy duddy, you may well be, but that's a pretty progressive mindset. Totally agree.

One of my favourite places, great value for money and great shopping, the best food and always nice and warm.

Whenever I've been there I have always managed to watch a Freo game in the hotel room (Traders). If you aren't staying in a hotel use your magic and get invited to one;)

Anyone following le Tour de France? Those guys are amazing athletes and as tough as nails. Take it to the limit every day for three weeks, fall off and get straight back on. And the scenery is breathtaking too.

I am sleep deprived atm but it's enthralling stuff.

Yeah I've been getting into it for the first time this year. Took a while to understand the tactics and stuff but I'm slowly getting there thanks to the guys on the cycling board putting up with all my n00b questions.

It's a cool mix of sport and travel porn. I love all the Game of Thrones-esque stories along the way about castles being stormed by the British, peasant uprisings, etc, etc.

I can't think of too many sports that are as physically gruelling. No idea how they do it tbh. Certainly an acquired taste but once you know what's going on it can be extremely riveting

Doping? In cycling? I don't believe you.

All part of the fun!

I actually feel a bit sorry for the guys who get caught when the rest of them are all on it too.

Similar how I feel for Ben Johnson carrying that stigma around just because he didn't have the corrupt US track and field federation looking out for him like Carl Lewis did.

It's the best bit as far as I am concerned, the race itself is just background. Very beautiful country in just about every region.
