Struggling to see why a) Redpath would leave, and b) why the Dogs would give him up.

Cloke will give the game away at year's end. Boyd is bouncing between AFL and VFL level. Stringer has come crashing down to earth after one good year.

I like Redpath, he'd be a great partner for McKay moving forward and would allow Charlie to play a bit more freely. Dunno how we get it done aside from dangling a cheque though.

Whose to say we were interested then? The general feeling is that he slid further than expected. We could have got him for Pick 35 in 2015 (though it's likely we'd have wanted Pick 30 to make sure) which may have been too steep given our other priority trades. Two years later if there's an opportunity to get him for Pick 56 in a weak draft...you reassess.

No idea where he was rated pre draft but if we expected we'd need pick 30ish then sure, makes sense. Our interest was noted early this year though before he's value further dropped - doubt we would target a player we didn't want in a draft 18 months earlier, especially one that hasn't shown much to date.

2 first round picks for Gibbs or no deal (unless they make that first rounder a top 10 pick). SOS didn't take the deal last year and I don't think he will this year, Adelaide need to make us a good offer or Gibbs stays.

As long as it isn't us getting Lever. He's still more of an intercept Marchbank type than a lock down KPD and we have that in spades. He may be an upgrade on one or two others possibly but we need holes filled not just upgraded a little if at all.

You are right in certain aspects there but right now, there are 3-4 clubs in the race and Kelly hasn't ruled out any of them. The price is higher the more players there are in the game.

For the love of God, he isnt going to nominate 3-4 clubs, or walk out of the Giants with no clubs nominated.

He'll sit down during the season, consider all the offers put to him, accept one of them, and nominate that club during trade week (or re-sign with the Giants before hand).

Im a huge Lever fan.

Weitering, Marchbank, Jones, Plowman, McCreadie is a pretty stacked tall back line for the future, I don't think we can fit him in.

Bummer as Gibbs for Lever would be a great starting point for a deal.

Works pretty well as a threeway trade I reckon:

Gibbs -> Adelaide
Lever -> Bulldogs
Pick 9 + Redpath -> Carlton

Flow-on effects:

Casboult goes to the Dogs as a FA filling the gap in their forward line. We get Pick 21 as compensation.
9 + 21 gets Hopper and Smith.
56 gets Balic.

OUT: Gibbs, Casboult
IN: Hopper, Smith, Balic, Redpath
DRAFT: 3, 38

Adds quality and depth to the midfield and forward lines. We lose a flexible mid and a key forward, and gain an inside mid, outside mid, small half-forward and a key forward. Draft for more mids...Bob's your uncle.
