This place is only interesting because of the people on it, whether they are funny, challenge us or support the club no matter what decision they make.

Mods have a tough job deciding when enough is enough. Unfortunately, some posters cannot be told and we lose input that makes us stop and consider things from a different perspective.

We should be open to new ideas and different approaches even if we don't agree with them. Sometimes we go a bit hard at new posters that haven't had time to develop a style we can all live with. Even reinvented posters could be a good thing if they have learned a lesson from previous transgressions. Often mods have to step in because we provoke newbies/reincarnations into vigorously defending themselves and they don't know how to do so constructively.

It always interested me the bipolar difference between TC and this board. Probably a reflection of how the club was travelling as a whole that a forum for positive and a forum for negative came into being. As the club repairs itself supporter opinion will most likely become more moderate. Having a few factions and disagreements amongst the supporter base is a necessary evil imo, a check/balance that helps keep the club heading in the right direction.

I would have thought $500 x 4 is pretty fair for a structural player given recent similar deals.

If that incorporates the new 20% increase it's about the average wage.

Totally agree! Don't get the Levi to go talk! Def a required players and has played a big part for us the last few years! Happily have him at $450 over 3

That's less coin than I was hoping, I'd keep him on our list for 500k a year as average wage would be close to 400k next year.

It's the total years though, no way I'd give 4, 2 and a trigger max.

If we can't at least get an early second rounder then we lose out, it's as simple as that

Fair enough and that may not suit everyone, but those players can be handled.
Exclusiveness. Isn't that what we all want, or is that simply a term 'limited' to taste?

Not sticking up for anyone, but sticking up for everyone.

I think you mean inclusiveness. Yes we want it but we won't endure the few who place themselves outside of the community or who seek to undermine for too long. Nobody can place themselves at a higher level because they consider themselves edgy or truth tellers.

Always ... articulate constructively. Don't browbeat, don't dismiss out of hand.

We want posters to report where appropriate.

I wouldn't be blaming the regulars for provoking new posters. Everyone signs up to a set of rules. If people hit the ground running with an abrasive style locals on any forum will generally set them straight. The genuine ones will take it on board. The others are probably posting on facebook forums.

Since then the salary cap has gone up 20% so the offer would now have to be closer to $600,000 to get the same compo.
I guess it depends on how easily Mayne triggered band 3. Vickery was 500k over two wasn't he and got them band 3 also? It may just scrape into band 3 because of the length of the deal but I would be guessing band 4 which puts us in abit of a lose lose situation

If Kelly chooses us, surely pick 2-3 straight up gets the job done.

It's under his value but you never get a good deal if an out of contract player wants to leave.

If we have to actually give up a fair trade, that equals the value of Kelly, we may aswell draft our own talent and develop them the way we want from day 1.

Avoids the jealousy of current players when they see a recruit getting 1mil for just rocking up as well.

I can't agree with this. Kelly is better then anyone on our list and I'm sure if we get players to ever reach his ability they would be looking for that type of money as well. Also I keep hearing this argument by people then they start going on about getting Shiel as a FA in a couple of years. Shiel is going to be getting offers well over a million dollars because their will be a massive bidding war for him with ten clubs knowing GWS won't be able to match. Anyone who gets Shiel are much more likely to overpay in dollars then they are Kelly. That goes for pretty much all gun FA's.
