Autopsy What just happened? A draw???

One right that comes to mind occurred right on half time where we really should have at least got a shot on goal, if not an easy goal after finding ourselves with had 4 blokes running relatively unopposed towards goal with only Reid and his opponent ahead. Instead we hesitated and done a dinky kick that missed it's target allowing the crows player to lock the ball in.

I'm still trying to comprehend how we stuffed that one up. It was a definate Keystone Cops moment

Just my opinion, the dumb decisions where not going man on man on that kick in, and no one contesting the marking contest. They had enough time to be ready, and to make sure if the ball dropped short or a little wide there where players there to cover.
Not the kicker who kicked 50 m and high so it could be contested.

He kicked it to an area where the crows were set up. They had more numbers even if a pie managed to get there the ball would fall into dangerous space and not within coohee of the boundary to kill the play.

Yes the team was not set up great but he had time to select the best option and that was what he chose, basically bomb it into the crows zone.

Outside that he didnt cost us the game as we had a bloody 50 point lead erroded which is a team effort including the coaching group to not make moves to arrest it.

Adelaide were always going to come back in the second half, and the pressure they brought after half time was enormous. We had a ball - literally - in the first half, and could do no wrong. And then reality hit, with the much better team getting their structure sorted and their game going.

It hurts like hell to give up a 50 pt lead, and the second half will go down as one of our worst efforts.

But I refuse to attack the players. When they started fumbling and making mistakes, it was in the second half when Adelaide applied enormous pressure. I still believe that youth and inexperience do that under pressure.

Wells was amazing today. What a beautiful footballer he is. 100% class and silk.
Very true, and not just because they had an extra 2 days break. Deservedly flag favourites and their performance today reminded me a lot of us in 2011 where we could overcome giving a side a head start and put them away with a smashing quarter or half.

As I said, I'll always love watching the Pies. I will always enjoy watching the youngsters come on. If you don't like it, or don't like it when you have egg on your face for being a Langdon hater, then put me on ignore, or just don't read the board. Simple.
Your comment on that thread about " egg on faces" wasn't anything to do with Langdon. It was basically sticking it up those who had been critical of Buckley and the teams performance during the year. It was a stupid and premature gloat from you. I will please myself how often I read or contribute to the board. I won't pay any heed to your gratuitous advice to the contrary.

How has he blown his job?

I think ppl calling for Bucks to be sacked at years end must remember there are no decent current coaches available next year. The only current coach who would see Bucks removed as coach would be Clarkson, and that isnt going to happen. The only current coach who could come in is Brad Scott, and for me thats a like for like.
Getting a unproven coach at senior AFL level isnt going to mean instant success. Bucks has 6 years of coaching under his belt, and l think his first 120 games as a coach, his record is better than Clarkson's.
I think the uproar about our list is overblown in the media, and really we are one key position player away from being a top 8 side. Thats why the club needs to pursue a Lever, McGovern or Reid.
I posted that Bucks should be extended to 2019 as l really believe he has the playing group behind him and they want to have success for him, a new coach would have to rebuild that belief from scratch.
Gave up a 50 point lead. A good coach would understand what it takes to keep it.

Hi Boys

I am a bit older than most of you I would imagine but when I saw the half-time score, I expected a collapse in the 2nd half. Why? Well go back and look at the half-time scores in the 1970 Grand Final agaunst Carleton & then the 1973 Preliminary Final against Richmond when the margins were 44 points & 38 points up respectively. At least today the walked away with a draw. More importantly I was there at both and went through the full emotional rollercoaster on both occasions. Talk about pain & frustration & angst. You ain't seen or experienced nothing! Anyway at the end of the day it reveals a lot about the character & mental toughness & resilience of your players as well as the capacities of your senior coach & his coaching staff. So once again I come to the same conclusion that there must be fundamental & comprehensive change in the coaching staff - starting at the very top - and the list in relation you must be totally ruthless if you want success & get rid off dumb and/or mentally-weak and/or physically fragile and/or tentative players. Unfortunately the club did not do that either at the end of the 1970 and/or 1973 seasons and hence no flags came our way until we appointed an outsider in the form of Leigh Matthews in 1986 as head coach & as we all know ultimate success resulted in 1990. C'est la vie. Hopefully change is imminent!
You forgot the 1981 GF. 21 points up and we fell asleep deep into time on and Cark-ton kick 2 late goals within a minute to make the margin 9 points. The rest is history like the 2011 GF we failed to kick a single goal in the last quarter of the most important game, the Grand Final.

He just drew with top of the ladder, the Adelaide Crows. Why sack him? You need to look at the end result. We didn't lose ☺
With all due respect, I think you've missed the point. Who cares if we drew. In our 125 year history we have never lost a game after being 50 points up.
If the margin was close throughout the entire game, then yes it's a great effort.
But not when your 50 points up! Sorry.
BTW, I like bucks. I am one of the minority that wants him to stay.

The last month Langdon has been putting egg on faces as has Thomas who has come from no-where. Langdon will put a lot of egg on the doubters faces in the coming years IMO. Don't take it to heart too much. We're both Collingwood we both hope for the best don't we? I'm not going to change as that's how I support the Pies, be it at a bbq, at the game with mates, or in a pub, or just with the family. Why should bigfooty be different? If you don't like it then...

It helped us to a better draft pick but didn't it. :$:straining:

We are not that far off IMHO, getting rid of Bucks may set us back and without a very good option put forward to replace him I tend to agree. One more key forward and key back, with a step up from some of the young guys (Kirby, Brown, Daicos, McLarty etc.)
Guessing you've been saying the same thing this time of year for the last 4 years.

He kicked it long inside edge of the flank far too central and not to a contest he picked out a crow.
He should of aimed it 1m inside the boundary line to a contest.

It was a poor decision. Not his fault we drew or erroded 50 points though.
You are having a laugh.

He kicked it 50m away from goal towards Moore.

Whether it was 5 or 10m closer to the boundary would have made no difference, as none of the 4 players we had around the ball decided to fly.

It wasn't a poor decision, it could have been closer to the boundary, but if Moore, DeGoey, Wells or Sidey actually contest the ball instead of all staying down....we win.

It is ridiculous to blame Langdon.

Result was okay but giving up a 50 point lead show that we are Weak As Piss

Story of our Season. Best is Fantastic but our Worse is Pathetic.

We Paniced at End and they did not was really Telling

Loved Moore's Game just wished he converted at end.

Fad did Stuff All.

Grundy was great in the Ruck vs Jacobs

I love Maynard.. definitely not a midfielder's brain though. Not a fast twitch thinker.
Love you Gimp.. but you got this 1000% wrong... You don't play your dumbest players and decision maker as a backman.... I'm sure you can figure out why darling.

What you put your gorilla on today btw?

Alot of sides this year have blown big leads this year, plus we were playing a side that scores heavily quickly, hence why they sit atop the ladder with a % of 138, nineteen rounds into the season.
Once the Crows get their transition game going no side in the competition can match them, so we did well to kick 3 consecutive goals in the last quarter against the flow of play.

Cop that Bucks, play blokes like Blair it's only fitting it cost you your job, see ya later.

Blair will be in the AFL Team for rest of the Season with Buckley as Head Coach:'(:'(:'(

Bad kick by langdon yes but how no one read it. It wasnt a flat kick. Then no one stood the mark
They say that Hawthorn have great on field football intelligence. If this is correct, and considerinG we've had years of constant poor decision making then we need to get Clarkson
