For sure...some people forget just how bad our list was at the end of 2014...we had one of the oldest lists in the comp yet finished last.
It really is mind boggling how Hughes/Rogers were allowed to stay on for so long, despite failing for so many years.
It's a disgrace that as of the start of 2015 before SOS came on board, the only midfielders of note that had been added to our midfield and still on the list since Gibbs way back in 2006 were Ed & Cripps. 2 midfielders...in 8 years. What a joke.
As you said, the club should be getting good contributions from our 21-27 year olds but those drafts were barrens. Now we're in a situation where we are putting too much load and pressure on our young kids who can't sustain their performance over a full season yet...and this also puts too much load on the older players. But we're heading in the right direction...SOS has done as well as anyone could really in the last 2 years to turn things around.
We're the ones that low balled Tuohy.
The boos were unnecessary and unwarranted for Tuohy.

Why do you say this?
Do you have info on said presentation? I'd Gove anything to be a fly on the wall. And to make it even worse we were paying the maximum TPP.
FFS - that says more about our delusional list management than anything.
SOS's presentation to the Board was brutal.
They are all overpaid and most of them are hacks.
Weird retaliation given this is probably Cas' best year of football, and he just played a really good game in a team that got spanked mostly due to having few competent midfielders... No doubt he's got his weaknesses, but by-and-large he's gone out of his way to correct them. His kicking, which was his achilles heel, is now reliable. He's still the best contested mark in the competition, and for his size, he at very least competes at ground level. I'm not sure what kind of defensive output you can expect for a 200cm bull, but he's never short of effort.
Levi would be silly to knock back a big contract at a contending club given his age and ability, but at the present he's going well for us. Now we've got a bit more of a read on McKay, we can see he's expendable, but like Tuohy or Henderson, we will notice his absence if he does decide to leave - even if it's for a season while we're recalibrating the side. His presence has certainly made it a lot easier for Curnow, Silvgani and now McKay up forward.
the weitering and marchbank figures are interesting. didn't think either was great but they have put in some km's.
That is a lot of running for 3 possessions by JW
Not sure that Levi is expendable. I dont see either CC or Harry being pack splitting big targets. I think you need at least one of those in your team. Harry is tall but doesnt have the bulk. CC seems more in the Nick Reiwoldt mold - mobile rather than crash and bash
Yep. too much media scrutiny about and for such a sacred cow injury (head trauma) this had to be made an example of.1 week for Dangerfield!
Could be that their plan was to drag the interceptors up and down the field, so as to create space to lead into for Hawkins. If so, we'd have to commit to the lead/player and risk Hawkins getting clean, or give them all kinds of options upfield.the weitering and marchbank figures are interesting. didn't think either was great but they have put in some km's.
He's expendable in the sense that other clubs will offer contracts that will beyond his actual value, which we will choose not to match. He's also not currently in the top echelon of forwards; if he was more than a 27-year old B-grader we'd be more inclined to re-sign him as we did with Kreuzer. I don't think there's much more improvement left in his game. If his output increased, it'd be due to being in a better team, but the coaching staff have done a good job of ironing out a lot of the inconsistencies in his game. His last half of last year was deplorable.
I think it'll be pushed out of our hands, as he's at the perfect point to collect a good contract on decent coin. If he does go, we will restructure the forwardline accordingly, which may actually benefit us in the long-run.
BB referred to it as not being able to "delay"Could be that their plan was to drag the interceptors up and down the field, so as to create space to lead into for Hawkins. If so, we'd have to commit to the lead/player and risk Hawkins getting clean, or give them all kinds of options upfield.
It's funny how easy/hard things are when your midfield is good or bad.
When a player leaves Carlton I deadset couldn't care less if he never got another kick. Don't judge me.Based on his form this season, he's worth more than we were offering, but at the time he was our third best running defender and not in the right age bracket to offer him the best contract of his career.
We got Marchbank out of that deal, who's younger, fits a need and is on significantly less coin, so it ended up being an even trade. Good to see Zach playing well though.
Don't wish them misfortune but blowed if I'll wish them luck. The bond is broken.
That you shano ?Brilliant observation. Maybe rogers turned the page upside down on draft night.
One of the most intelligent posts of the year, to notice rogers was crossing off names at the bottom of his list that the rest of the league was picking in the early rounds
