Looks like all that cheap housing on the rail line will go too?

Looks okay really. The final game should be a WAFL GF (likely to be Subi v Bulldogs on current form) and really promote it but the WAFL won't. They'll try and put together some Dockers v Eagles legends game or something as the final game in October and promote that instead. Useless. *******. campaigners.
You'd think that but they want an international rules game in November.

My point being they should dress up the WAFL GF as a farewell to Subi. "This is it! Get down there! The final GF after first being at Subi in 1911!" It'll be a wonderful crowd, a nod to this history of the place and a celebration of the loss of the iconic venue.

Instead they'll have some mashed up thrown together s**t that people don't respect full of players who don't want to be there more often than not. They'll dress that up as the farewell as that's what focus groups will probably bullshit to them.

This is one chance thew WAFC finally has to not s**t all over the proud legacy of the WAFL and it's time at Subi Oval. Once the WAFL GF is done that should be it.

I get what you're saying, but the WAFC also has a responsibility to its stakeholders to make every penny they can, they aren't in a position to turn down the millions in revenue that a sold out crowd generates just to satisfy the nostalgia very few will feel towards the venue and a competition (WAFL) that very few clearly give a toss about.

looks like it is going to be used for a new high school.

I note on the plans there is an area marked as possible new WAFC HQ - which is odd because I understood they were moving to the WACA?

So do they plan on just keeping the 2 grandstands built in the mid 90's and demolish the super boxes between them for a ground level Carpark, and demolish the rest of the grandstands?

If two Grandstands are being kept, how many seats would that be for? Could Subiaco Oval still be used for WAFL, or amateur football?

I'd guess about 10,000 seats left. No reason why it couldn't be used for WAFL games. There should be 2 set of rooms still there for competing teams - 1 under each remaining stand.

The whole 'keeping Subi for the WAFL' thing is flawed since the WAFL has operated for over a decade without it.

It's a very expensive nice-to-have, really. All the stands on the Subi end of the ground can go, as can the Subiaco FC rooms and carpark etc. Kitchener Park is nothing space also. That frees up plenty of space around the site for medium density development.

Does much traffic go from Townshend Rd along Haydn Bunton Dr to Salvado/Railway? Be great to pedestrianise that but I don't think it's possible.

Best way to get there from town (staying at the pan pacific)
Good place in town for a meal afterwards
Would I get in trouble if I rip out some seats after the game?

As of now the plan is

Land Saturday, go to Fremantle for the night
Go to game Sunday
Fly home Monday

Second time to Perth.
And my first time I landed at 2am, went to the casino, then back to the airport at 6am.
So in effect. It is only my first time.

Best way to get there from the city is the train. They run a football special every 15 minutes or you can jump on the Fremantle line which stops at West Leederville (where the footy special ends and happens to be at the away end of the ground). You could also go one stop further on the Fremantle line and get off at Subiaco Station if you end up with seats at the Subiaco end of the ground (what I do as I am in the 3 tier stand). After the game you can jump on the train to the city from West Leederville or Subiaco. If you do go from West Leederville just make sure you get on the right train. There are 2 platforms with one being a football special on the Mandurah line that does not stop in the city. If you are in the away end you will see a lot of people turn left when they go under the bridge but you will want to go right.

In terms of food afterwards I can't help you there but you are better off going back into the city than trying to find somewhere in Subiaco.

Be wary of late Saturday night in Freo as it will be filled with drunken teens going to and from Metropolis night club. Keep away from the Cappuccino strip after about 11:30/midnight.

He's talking about Freo likes it's downtown Gaza... Jesus Christ! Freo is safe and the drunken teenagers are no worse than they are in Northbridge or any other modern city on a Saturday night. Bloody young people trying to find themselves with alcohol and nightclubs is barely a terrible thing.

Where is the best place to go after a game at domain for a beer and feed?
There is always the Subi Hotel where the food is decent. Not sure of the prices though as have not eaten there for awhile. There's also a curry restaurant across the road - can't remember the name of it. Mary's Chutney or something like that but obviously depends upon whether you like hot food, but this restaurant has always had good reviews.

Any restaurants you'd recommend down freo way?
What are you after? If you're going for a Saturday evening, Little Creatures is good beer and has a good spread of food done pretty well. Check their menu online. It's not cheap but eh not many places are in Perth. But it's worth checking out. The little venue next door, both of them, are probably better in winter.

Sail & Anchor isn't a great pub but they generally do a $8 pint which is usually something decent. There's cheap Asian markets next door too which can get a decent atmosphere. The food at the National is alright as well and they too have a cheap pint of the month. There's a fair bit of typical Italian fare and that sort of stuff down the strip. Can't say I've ever eaten at one since I was a teenager. Avoid the Newport Hotel, prices are generally okay but it's a bit of a bogan crowd. What are you feeling exactly? Perth isn't like Melbourne where you have cosy little footy pubs in the inner suburbs that go off Sunday night with a parma, some pool, and a pint, and it doesn't have uber trendy restaurants constantly opening that are really good.

The Subi Hotel is pretty *in expensive but it's a nice place. It's a well done up pub that I think only reopened about two years ago. They sting you $9 for a schooner... and every beer is within 50 cents of that price range so you can't even be cheap about it.

I'm not really an eat out person and I rarely go out in Freo but Little Creatures is a popular spot as SA said. My sister and her boyfriend love Holy Smokes which is an American style BBQ place IIRC. If you are in the mood for some seafood the there is Cicerellos as well on the wharf across from the Esplanade.

Turkish restaurant on Essex Street is good. If you're there during the day then can't go past the New Orleans Café. It's actually run by a family from Louisiana.

Yeah this is great, would be cool to see some classes overlooking the old oval too – making it look out toward it.

Retaining the oval proper is important as the buzz of having a kick on an old AFL ground is always pretty cool. It being available on weekends for residents or even people going there especially to have a few shots on goal is important, and possibly hosting some Amateur games would be nice too. Wonder what grandstands they'll retain? Would be nice to see a wing kept in the shade and have the three tier stand a hill.

The Sail & Anchor should be a good pub.

It's a nice old building in a good spot, but the worst thing about it is their own beer. I don't get how pub breweries exist that make s**t beer.
