Richmond classic example of medium list, some real quality but long on medium level quality.Hardwick has been coach at Richmond for over seven years. He has a losing record and has never won a final. Despite this the Richmond FC has stuck by him, and now, with a focus on enjoying their footy, Richmond have made a perfect start to the season. Are there lessons here for our club?
Should we stick with Buckley?
Should we concentrate more on fast ball movement?
Should we encourage our players to just enjoy their footy?
Is it just a fluke that Richmond are winning?
We not dissimilar.
Our only real hope of advancing us our youngster players developing to higher levels.
Are we not immediately better if Moore, De Goey, Maynard, go up a few cogs (as expected in time).
Grundy already at A level stays there and dominates ongoing.
Adams churns out the residual toughness he does.
Then maybe just maybe the emergence of Scharenberg?
Does Aish move up cogs? Broomhead? Crocker?
Then there is the potential of Daicos, Kirby then Brown and then McLarty?
A lot needs to happen, but that's the future laid bare with ofcourse Treloar absolute key.
Is is the coach? I'm less inclined than most to get swept in the coaching is everything view.
Win, you're a good coach, lose you're a poor coach - that's just the nature of it.
But I'm quite vocal on coaches are too highly rated, but whoever coaches us, I support them.
I'm not for mid season stabbings, does nothing, only hurts the Club.
So our future is clearly in the potential not what we see most weeks.
For us to advance to the highest positions on the ladder the bulk of White, Blair, Goldsack, Greenwood, Mayne, Thomas, Keeffe, Smith, will be replaced by better end talent.
Our first priority is De Goey and Moore going to the levels we need.
Oh and kick better, amazing kicking between the two big sticks what could be?
