Youth. If we got martin I would have been all for keeping Waite, Gibson, Goldstein, and Scooter and seeing just what we could achieve when we bring in TWO players that are better than our best.

But, we didn't get Martin, so that's that.

Next years draft for us is huge. The only remaining free agents this year are fairly meh. I would rather we move on a few older blokes, grab some young guns in the making if we can get them for cheap trades (think Ahern), and other than that look to increase our picks in next years draft.

Some more short term pain, continue changing our age profile, and getting games into our kids. Preferably with Preuss as our main ruck.

agree. we aint going anywhere unless we be aggressive with our trades to get high quality picks to complement Kelly

Nah, I am not copping "aggressive reset" one minute then getting conned in to a 3-5 year rebuild the next, because one trade target fell over.

As for the players mentioned, I'd suggest they are all staying, especially if we only land Kelly.

As for Goldy, of course, he's contracted.

We should continue look for some bargains ala Marley/Hrovat/Ahern. The likes of Balic, Tucker and McKenna are young, out of contract and have serious untapped talent, plus we could probably get them without giving up either of our top picks. Trade Goldy and Swallow for pick upgrades, resign Browny, Mountford, Wagner and Mullett (unless someone offers up a 2nd), then hit the draft hard.

Our biggest issue is the 2018 draft. Finally we have some decent FS/Academys and it is the year we might need to off load the next years pick to secure Kelly. We picked a poor year to have a shit year.

Why would Kelly take 1 mill over 9 when he will more then likely get half way through that contract and be underpaid. Every chance the next tv deal will boost wages again, give him 1.2 over 5 which gives him the opportunity to renegotiate in his prime.

I reckon Simpkin, Garner, Marley and Wood definitely have A grade talent, plus the likes of Clarke, Dumont, Durdin, McKay and Zurhaar who have shown great signs. Future is bright imo

Don't agree. Not enough top end talent in the upper age bracket without Dusty to justify it. Time to rebuild. Swallow, Gibson, Thomas and Waite should all be moved on. Thompson can still play and is in the best form of the older players -- one more year.

Some coin can be shelved for next season with short term contracts for senior players, but we will have LT & Spittas money freed up at the end of next season.

We need to look for another option aside from Kelly this draft. Whether it be a Rockliff or some younger spec picks in the Ahern/Williams/Hrovat mould.
