The second test gets underway today.

A mixture of a poor weather forecast and selection conundrums will make it difficult for Australia to draw the series.

We could see as many as three changes for the Aussies, with many expecting Hanscomb to take the gloves from Wade to accomodate a triple spin attack, which would see Cartwright be included as a second seam option at the expense of Khawaja.

OT I know, but who would you pick instead of Wade?

Honestly I don't know, but what I do know is picking the tried and failed option isn't working. Personally if you ask me right now, I'd give Sam Whiteman an opportunity but wouldn't be against them giving Harper, Carey, etc a go either. Just pick someone that isn't Wade, and I'm meh on bringing Nevill back as well (albeit he's better than Wade at least)

I've seen many people's sides for this match having many differences regarding the set up of the side, but not one of them has had Jackson Bird in it. Hasn't done too much wrong when he's been called up and I think his accuracy would come in handy on these unpredictable pitches.

Don't think Bird will be needed over here, Cartwrights dibbly mediums can be useful as well anyway. Just don't see much point in picking Bird. Even Hazelwood before he broke down wasn't very effective and he's a better version of Bird basically.

Three spinners, Cummins, Cartwright and some part timers in smith, etc.

Rain forecast everyday, with today being the better forecast with on 50% chance of rain.
Next 4 days are up around 80%.

while there is rain forecast I would still expect us to get 70-80% of the overs as it tends to rain, stop, rain. Not sure about the condition of the ground though, drainage wise. probably shithouse.

I'm a fan of Whiteman as well.
Just may be a little early to give him a go at the highest level.

We will never know unless we try. it would be better if we are thinking of dumping Wade to do it prior to the Ashes where the new keeper will at least have the home series to keep in home conditions first.

9.30 am Bangladesh have won the toss and will bat. One change for them, specialist batsman Mominul Haque coming in for a bowler in Shafiul Islam. Australia make two changes - Khawaja and Hazlewood (injury) out and in come Hilton Cartwright and Steve O'Keefe. So one team, the home team, bolsters its batting and the visitors have had to drop the man they played at No. 3 in the last Test for an allrounder

So...what was the point of taking Swepson?

Experience.

He'll learn a lot from being around the side. What games has he missed out on? Training for QLD? Well he's bowling in the nets to better players here!

Dreadful shortsighted team selection. 3 spinners when you already have Smith underbowling Maxwell and Agar, bringing in SOK ahead of Swepson makes a mockery of the initial selection, and Cartwright surely doesn't get a gig in the upcoming Ashes but we've just dropped the most likely number 3... baffled honestly

Whiteman had finger surgery not long ago, he's no chance

Cartwright has to be an Ashes chance, for the squad at least, especially if his Shield form continues.
