Fake News!

Everyone knows it was Triggy and the Save Football Park facebook group that got Adelaide Oval done.
Something good happens at the oval:
"Glad we pushed so hard to get ourselves to AO with Port riding our coat tails"

Some negative things happen at AO:
"Bloody port dragged us there, ruined my experience and wasted tax dollars, we should still be at Footy Park"

We were awful in that game, they got by due to being less awful.
To be honest we controlled the whole game and were clearly the better team, we just dozed off for 5 mins at the end of the third and cost ourselves the game because we hadn't taken our earlier opportunities.

If we cop Richmond again I'd be very confident we can beat them.

THE AFL would have no issue in paying Tom Lynch to remain at Gold Coast as an ambassador on top of his salary, providing he extends his contract beyond 2018.
Lynch, 24, enjoyed his first season as co-captain of the Suns this year and is one of the competition’s best young key forwards having kicked 234 goals from his first 121 games.

The ****ing AFL up to the usual goal post shifting. How hard is to have the same rules for every club? Cola, Acadmies, Ambassador pay, priority picks, free agency compensation, etc. What a shit organisation.

Farkern crap

load of bollocks. all the other 17 clubs should protest against this.

But the whole point is that nothing would change but the inclusion of these extra games. In the subsquent week, there would be 8 teams, QF and EF, just like today.
Why don't we have an 18-team finals series? Depending on how we structure it, at one stage there will be 8 teams remaining.

How great would it be to have Clarkson as our head coach? This sort of leadership is really hard to find.

Poor start saw Clarko invite talks on his job

"There's no-one in our organisation who should be bullet-proof," Clarkson told Channel Seven on Monday night.
"Our footy club, and all clubs, are now bound by a salary cap in terms of football department spending, of which a reasonably successful senior coach will be one of the highest spends in the football department.
"So what I offered to our football sub-committee is, 'Let's not be afraid to have the conversation, when we're performing poorly, let's assess every part of our football club including my position'.
"So it wasn't offering a resignation, it was just saying, 'Let's be prepared to be transparent and talk about all things'.
"I thought that it was only fair with an 0-4 start."

Agree. Love him or hate him, he'd be the right type of coach to take this list to the next level.

Four flags in < ten years gives you the leverage to have these kind of discussions.

If the Top-4 have double chance and the other 4 play Elimination Finals, you are absolutely right.

Rounds 1 to 17 > Pre Finals
Rounds 18 to 23 > Finals
Rounds 24 to 26 > Final Finals
Round 27 > Grand Final Final

I'd like them to Pay Ollie's salary just to make sure he stays with us. I'm sure Port supporters would have no issue with this.

As El Zorro posted, why not just have all 18 teams in the finals? Eventually there will only be 8 teams left.

We could have a minor round season were each team plays each other team once which will take 17 weeks. This would then determine the rankings for the finals series which would involve all 18 teams.

You could. But you would be creating more problems than those you solve.

The advantage of the Challenge Round is to basically change nothing (no extra rounds, top-4 and bottom-8 would be in the same situation as today), while giving 5th and 6th places the advantage of a bye week previous to EF.

It is just that! Nothing more.

So the AFL cracked down on Carlton paying Chris Judd $1M outside the salary cap as an ambassador for Visy and now want to do the same thing for Tom Lynch at Gold Coast. It will be interesting to see what lengths the AFL will go to to save the basket case that is the Gold Coast Suns.

You could. But you would be creating more problems than those you solve. ...
I was being facetious. :)

That is exactly what your proposals to "fix" the pre-finals bye are doing when the obvious solution is to simply do with this totally unnecessary bye that was introduced as a knee jerk reaction in 2016.
