Agree, Danger's field kicking can quite often be sloppy but as you say it's his explosiveness and goalkicking that sets him apart.

For a number of reasons, I've posted it on the Geelong board, he's right in his prime now, I think he'll be a better footballer at Geelong than he was at Adelaide.

I expect him to be a consistent top 5 player in the league.

No, I think part of his recent form at Adelaide was motivated by a need to leave on good terms, so I think that will be his best form.

Depends what you are after, danger definetly is the best contested ball winner in he comp, but lacks skills compared to pendelbury who's skills and vision is up there as the best in the comp. Unusual in the fact Collingwoo could do with a Danger to go wih Pendle's the combination would be outstanding and Geelong could do with Pendles to go with Selwood for the same reason, Selwood lacks the skilll of a Pendlebury aswell.
Treloar is effectively a poor mans version of Dangerfield, which should make our midfield much less one dimensional. I think it's been well said that Dangerfield is more of a match winner, while Pendlebury is more consistent in terms of impact.

I don't fully agree with the call that Danger is more of a matchwinner. Champion Data published some stats not too long ago that showed that Pendles was the most 'clutch' player in the league (ie. highest rated players late in games where the margin is <12 points), Pendles was #1 on the list ahead of Ablett and Fyfe. Not the be all and end all of course but shows how effective he is late in games.

Additionally Pendles' record in finals is very good, has had some absolutely huge games. I don't remember Danger really dominating that much in finals but again that doesn't mean everything.

Danger is clearly a beast in the contest and someone you'd love to have at your club but as a complete package Pendles is a little bit ahead at this stage. Danger is a couple of years younger though so has more footy ahead of him you'd say, and I do expect him to be very good at Geelong.

I'm clearly biased as Pendles is one of my favourite footballers of all time but I'm picking him here.

Nothing against Danger, but I feel I could trust Pendles to hold up much better in finals pressure, especially in regards to disposal, and he's a proven big game player.

He's not explosive or very fancy looking, but he sure gets the job done. His disposal, vision, awareness etc is off the charts and will make him an extremely dangerous player even into 'old age'.

Is it just me or is Pendlebury's impact on games dropping as every season goes on? His numbers still look nice but not 100% convinced he is still one of the top 5 influential players in the competition. Still a great player but IMO seems to be fading a bit...

I agree. He's still an excellent player but on my viewing he's definitely not as impactful as he once was.

Patrick Dangerfield is a considerably better footballer than Scott Pendlebury. That is no knock on Pendlebury either as Dangerfield is a marking and goal kicking midfielder. Pendlebury has been a very consistent performer but he hasn't come close to the impact in which Dangerfield has obtained since 2015.

I think that since the thread was created, a fair bit has changed. Pendles has struggled with injury while Danger has gone from strength to strength.

Pendles is a player that oozes class. Danger is a crash-and-bash, burst from the pack specialist whom when is on, which is most weeks, impacts games like few others ever have.

I think given there's three years between them, with Pendles nearing the end, it's safe to say that Danger's peak has been higher than Pendles' peak.

I'm not sure if Pendles will get back to his best; quite frankly, I think moving forward Treloar will be the Pies' best mid if he isn't already considered that.

Danger is one rung above Treloar and doesn't look like slowing down just yet. It will be interesting to see how Danger copes once his body starts ageing a little.

If Danger has a huge finals and continues on the way he's playing for the next few years, there'll be little debate as to whom is better by the time both have retired.

So, Danger for mine and comfortably so.

IMO Pendles is still #1, Adams is our second best and Treloar is third.

Anyway Danger is clearly a rung above Pendles now, but still feel Pendles is a bit underrated. He's only 29. I think he'll still play another 3 years of A grade footy and beyond that (depending how long he plays) still contribute at a high level due to his high football IQ and quality disposal.
