The curious thing about this kind of thing is how it came to be reported ...

... these kinds of things don't appear on the Channel 7 News because a friend of a friend overheard Fas' neighbour's dog talking about blah blah blah.

It appeared on the Channel 7 news because either ...

(A) Somebody from Fas' camp told Channel 7 (Fas' manager) to further their agenda.

(B) Somebody from the Collingwood camp told Channel 7 to further their agenda.

(C) Somebody from one of the WA clubs told Channel 7 to further their agenda

My guess is (A). The agenda would be to signal that "Fas is gone". It's the Wellingham situation all over again (Video leaked to the media of Wellingham walking through WC's side entrance while he was still under contract at Collingwood)

Lol people that think we may get Darling for Fasolo are absolutely dreaming.

Darling is one of their best players and more importantly is he is a tall key position forward. The rarity of KPF makes them even more valuable.

Fasolo imo is no where near the value of Darling. Honestly he won't even add much to their already strong forward line.

E someone from Channel 7 knew about the forthcoming articles and wanted to add a bit of spice.

Next F???

Depends on the perspective you look at it from.

In terms of getting value for the player, yes, they ballsed up. Freo made a good offer to them and they rejected it and as a result got a lesser deal 12 months later.

In terms of doing what was right for Cam, no, they allowed him to return to WA, they allowed him to play amateur footy, they did what was best for his health and wellbeing despite holding him to his contract.

GWS was in a unique position whereby they could afford to do things the way they did without getting hurt significantly. They probably were trying to send a message to opposition clubs about making attempts to poach contracted players too, but that was probably lost when Freo got Cam 12 months later for peanuts.

He never played amateur footy. They only allowed him to train with south Fremantle, with proviso of no contact. Just ball work.

Fair enough, doesn't really change anything though.

So apart from channel 7 running their story (unsubstantiated) has anyone else ran the story that he wants to go home?

Isn't Fas overseas atm with team mates?

I think this all might be a beat up.
Hopefully he stays. Sounds like he is in the right environment to enable him to cope better with his depression. Returning to WA may not be the best thing for him.

You think that the 50 blokes around him, that clearly support and look out for him over 50hrs a week at work and in his personal time would be a positive for him dealing with his situation.

The story doesn't seem to be gathering any momentum in the press, with trade scenarios etc...

No, I'm a poor boy from a rich family...
But my Father blew it all on fast women & slow horses...

The horse is slow but the bookie is patient.

No he isn't, he is only 191cm. He is however taller then Fas but despite that they often play similar roles.

Pies have used Fasolo as the main target inside 50 akin to a small FF, we have used him as a lead up HF, we have used him as a FP.

WC use Darling either as a hit up forward inside 50 or as a half forward role. The way they both play is very similar.

Darling maybe worth more but I wouldn't say massively.

Or maybe West Coast Eagles are still busy playing football at the moment and are staying mum on list managment plans until the seaosn is over.

Darling is 191cms, the same height as Pendles. Hardly KPF height. Darling is a mid sized forward, just appears bigger.

Agree. Fasolo plus a 3rd or 4th rnd pick would be a fair trade.

Darling is a WA boy in his prime just turned 25, how is he in the conversation? Why would he come and why would they let him come?
